At 7:50 i believe the flaps were set to 40 as part of the de-icing checklist to check if the flaps correctly deploy or not. I don't really know much about b737s so this is just a guess 😅 Awesome video!

It looks like that’s the deal indeed, but I don’t recall ever seeing that in any checklist, so I think it’s just perhaps a pilots preference? But whatever ensures safety, I like!

I flew TK to Berlin 8 years ago and the inflight service was awesome! They had a chef onboard on the Istanbul to Berlin sector and the food was great. I flew out of Ataturk Havalimani, a little crowded but okay. I have not experienced the new Istanbul airport, which I am told is massive. Personally, I prefer smaller airports because of the long exhausting walks to the boarding gates.

From what I've seen TK's 737 have quieter cabins than the 737 on other airlines. For instance I know Ryanair has a louder cabin despite same aircraft type

See, I noticed the same with some airlines so I agree. Air France has way quieter A320’s vs Vueling’s A320’s (I used to fly them all the time almost daily 15 years ago). And I think it might be because of sound insulation material, otherwise I can’t explain it!

When I was flying TK back home (to Singapore) from Poland they directed me straight into the boarding gates area (once we landed in Istanbul) instead of bothering to ask me to go through another round of security screening

I fly regularly from Varna- DXB using Tk with a connection at IST and what is interesting to me is when I am flying from Varna to Dubai at Istanbul I don't have to go through security but while I am flying from Dubai to Varna with a connection at Istanbul I always have to go through long security lines.

The reason is that pax are being differentiated on arrival and those from "safe countries" are allowed to skip the security check

Depends on the contracts that one might have, but for a B737 it should be in the $5,000-$10,000 range. I was told once how much it costs for EK to deice an A380 in Amsterdam but I forgot the number. It was crazy. It could perfectly have been tens of thousands of Euro’s.
