it's starting to look like Shabaka Hutchings is an actual musical genius...this is his most modern sounding current project but they're all incredible in different ways.

So good, just wish the sax up a bit in the mix, and had less reverb Looking forward to this as it develops over the next few years!

Love the sax...something slightly lacklustre about the drums though. Maybe would groove better if it was a bit more jazzy?

I've listened to a lot of this project and I know that the drummer is actually very good but I don't get why drum parts are constantly so boring when they're probably the easiest instrument to add little parts into, why would he not add some snare rolls underneath the hat in the opening or something to make it more interesting than the same repetitive af beat ig i just have adhd or need to be constantly entertained or smth

it's called "four on the floor" a 4 by 4 rhythm. It's meant to sound repetitive and clean. Taken from electronic genres such as house , techno.

He had a pretty fantastic long form solo when I saw them live about 6 months ago. Guys legit when he lets loose

yeah this comment is fucking hilarious to me now ive started playing drums and i really called them "easy" haha still tho i dont think u should call somwthing experimental or unique just because its in 5. still a repetitive ass beat that could have been spiced up.
