Even though Leah didn’t have Jacob’s love at least she had Gods love and was surrounded by children whom I assume loved her dearly. I feel so bad for the servant girl that had her baby essentially taken away from her.

To all the Leahs out there. As some one who has a sister like Rachel, my sympathies lie with Leah. It’s important to realise that God sees and knows all and he is just and righteous and not swayed with favouritism and externals that man is so easily swayed by. Don’t take things into your own hands or seek revenge. Stay faithful to Christ, in due time he will remember you and bless you. How many people were hurt by these two. The hand maids were people too! Look how the were used as objects. And, as we see later, Joseph’s brothers were also filled with jealousy over their younger sibling, how spoiled with love and favouritism Joseph was! So many lessons in this story, yet even today, people haven’t changed we are still those types of people in our hearts.

Reacting to a situation whether intelligently, foolishly or in the the fear of the Most High is intrinsic to human nature. The exercise of free will can be a curse as in the first disobedience in the Garden of Eden.. but it is a tool for the development of a godly character if used rightfully. Jacob humble himself and gave Isau gifts when they reunited. He has changed and grown in stature. He has overcome. To God be all the glory.

Leah was a rapist. When a man pretends to be someone else to trick a woman to sleep with him it would be rape. Same thing for Leah. JACOB DID NOT WANT HER. You are not owed love from someone. If someone doesn't love you they will never love you. He loved Rachel. They should have left Leah for dead on the side of the road. That's about what she deserved forcing her way into a relationship where no one wanted her. Is that what you do? Find someone who actually wants you don't try to steal the husband of your beautiful sister who wouldn't give you the time of day. Why else would you compare yourself to Leah?

Poor Leah. As a wife to a dishonest husband, who has always felt second place to someone (anyone) younger and more desirable, I am not Rachel. I am Leah, and this story turns my stomach. I did not steal my father's idols like Rachel did, yet I will not be exalted for that. I did not decieve my father with animal skin, yet I will not be exalted for that. I am Leah. I am Esau. I don't know what to do with that.

At the end of the day the bible is 100% correct when it says, ‘you reap what you sow’ Jacobs sin was extremely severe because he deceived his father Issac into blessings him and stole his brothers blessings and birthright, so leban deceiving him is only a reap of what he sowed. God is just, it doesn’t matter how popular or big a person is, yes he will forgive you and still bless you but you can never run away from the consequences of your actions. You will still pay for what you did, if not you then your children will.And we see exactly that with Joseph and his brothers. If you do evil to others it will destroy you more than it did to them. Greed gets you nowhere Pride gets you nowhere Envy gets you nowhere Jealously gets you nowhere BUT, HUMILITY TAKES YOU FAR IN LIFE!!! Let’s learn from stories like this and not the hard way. Thank you xx

Did we read the same story in the bible? Esau Willingly sold his birthright to Jacob for some red pottage. How did he deceive Esau? Esau was the one being deceptive when he was willing to be blessed by Issac when he knows he already sold the birthright to his brother Jacob. Please go back and read the story.
@kerlienlutayi5513
@kerlienlutayi5513 2 жыл бұрын
@@brokennation8398 It was deception because Jacob knew his brother was hungry, if he really cared he would of gave him the food for the sake that his brother was hungry, but no, jacob blackmailed his brother into selling his birthright. Please explain to me how that is JUST?! It didn’t stop there. Jacob and his mother pretended to be Easu and cooked a meal only Easu makes for Issac and knew that, that same day Issac was going to bless Easu Issac blessed Jacob thinking it was Easu but it wasn’t. . NOW PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THAT IS NOT DECEPTION???!!!! If you intentionally pretend to be someone you are not, that is deception. If you take something that does not belong to you that is stealing. So not only was Jacob (before he become Israel )was a liar but a thief too. He stole a blessing that did not belong to him. You say that Easu was the deceptive one but please show me a scripture where Easu deceived Jacob?? Genesis 27: 33 -Isaac began to tremble uncontrollably and said, “Then who just served me wild game? I have already eaten it, and I blessed him just before you came. And yes, that blessing must stand!” Genesis27: 34 When Esau heard his father’s words, he let out a loud and bitter cry. “Oh my father, what about me? Bless me, too!” he begged. Genesis 27: 35 But Isaac said, “Your brother was here, and he tricked me. He has taken away your blessing.” Genesis 27: 36 - Esau exclaimed, “No wonder his name is Jacob, for now he has cheated me twice.[a] First he took my rights as the firstborn, and now he has stolen my blessing. Oh, haven’t you saved even one blessing for me?” Issac himself said that Jacob tricked him, a word that can also be used to describe deception. Soo clearly Scripture itself is proving my point that Jacob was deceptive, and that same deception is why leban deceived him and his own sons. I stand by my joint. You reap what you sow. Not saying God will not bless you but you will still reap what you sow because God is JUST!! So you’re right it clearly looks like we’re reading different bibles because your interpretation makes no sense.

@@kerlienlutayi5513 Sis Esau could have said no. He didn't have to sell his birthright to Jacob. No tricks involved with that. He wasn't really gonna die. We have all been so hungry that we felt like we were going to die. Everything that happened was in The Most High's will or it would not have come to pass. The Most High had already told Abraham and Rebecca that Jacob was supposed to receive the blessing. That's why Rebecca did what she did. The Elder was supposed to serve the younger. Also they were never really loving brothers towards each other they were fighting in the womb. Have you read the book of Jasher? It gives you a more in detail account of what happened between them.

Is it inner beauty when you conspire with your father to steal your sister’s husband? Leah knew exactly what she was doing and paid the price for it. God had mercy on her, because the price she was paying would have crushed her to the point of uselessness otherwise. And for those saying Leah didn’t have a choice; remember how her aunt Rebecca (Laban’s sister) was told she could deny marrying Isaac? Until you have seen a “Leah” in your church deceive/seduce another sister’s fiancé/boyfriend into marrying her, you will keep pitying her.
@CrownxMe7

For those confused about the dynamics of this relationship: 1. Laban was greedy and took advantage of Jacob (he seen the blessings coming in) 2. God pitied Leah and opened her womb while closing Rachel’s to bring her relief.. Jacob did not care for her. 3. Rachel’s womb was closed in the beginning because the 12 tribes would not exist if Jacob had who he wanted. 4. Rachel turned it into a competition and was punished unknowingly. All Leah desired was her husband’s love. 5. In the end both Leah and Rachel were blessed. Leah’s children received the Kingship (Judah) and Priesthood (Levi) and Rachel’s had the Birthright (Joseph) and (10) numerous tribes.

Do you blame Jacob? Imagine wanting the prettier sister and you make an agreement. You fulfill the agreement after seven years and then it’s broken. Do you think Laban told Jacob that he was given him Leah? Of course not, he did it at the time his agreement was completed. Leah is then given to you and you have to work another seven years for the one you wanted. On top of that you’re only supposed to have one wife according to God, even though it was excepted in these days. So they were going against Gods wills for his people. One thing also to look at is all the trouble men went through having multiple wives. Ones enough!

For the part that God takes Rachel's womb as a hostage and closes it so Jacob can care for Lea, I find that very low Rachel is paying for her father's deceit and her husbands emotions Jacob deceived his uncle( in such away a child won't believe it ) by making the cattle crave certain things then he stole his uncles cattle His cousins discover what he was upto and told their dad Jacob then ran away with his families and his loot The whole thing is a made up story or in a better word, family feud that became holy

There's nothing this narrator will say that fits in to how everything was...and u can't change the fact that jacob love Rachel even until death, he never joked with Rachel children. The love he had for Rachel I presumed cause God to have a covenant with Joseph, not all the children Leah had 😃 Rachel was buried because there was no practice of embalming then...and how do u wish to carry an unpreserved body till the cave of macpelah? She was buried along the way towards Bethlehem. Jacob grieved for her death so much that he needed her to be buried not where he will have to go see everyday. The tomb or cave at macphelah is a family buried ground which Abraham bought...so Leah is entitled to be buried there,but Jacob never said " buried me close or next to Leah, he only asked to buried in the family cave" so what's special about Leah be buried there?? Leah was so desperate that she knew she was tricked and yet will not leave. Imagine she was married to Jacob but was still begging Rachel to give her a chance to sleep with Jacob by exchanging with her mandrakes.

If Leah was such a great person and was innocent in Laban's deception, wouldn't she feel awkward about persuing Jacob? And feel bad for him&her sister? It seems to me she had feelings for him and wanted him from the get go even though she knew he loved her sister. It seems weird for her to feel intitled to his love. If that were me and I was forced into this scenario...i would have been praying for a way out,Not helping myself to the man my sister is in love with&clearly is in love with her. By all intent and covenant Rachel was his real wife because that is who he loved& made a willing commitment to before God. Leah was against his free will and nothing to do with love or commitment. The love was never hers to begin with, she tried to buy it with children. In that way she actually was trying to steal what was never hers& initiated a rivalry with her sister. being ugly doesn't make you innocent.

I don't know. I feel uncle Laban was the real culprit here. Question is was Leah a willing participant or a pawn in her father's plan? If she was aware of it, given the culture of the time, could Leah disobey her father if he asked her to trick Jacob? What would have happened to her if she was divorced during that era? Also it must be remembered that Jacob did agree to keep Leah. How much of a choice did she have in that gentlemen's agreement? Did she have the choice to walk out of the marriage?

People need to stop saying Leah was forced or didn’t have a choice, because she did! Her aunt Rebecca (Laban’s sister) had the opportunity to deny the proposal to marry Isaac, so women having that option was also a part of the family culture. Instead, Leah conspired with her father to deceive a man she had witnessed laboring for her sister for 7 years! God is merciful and compassionate when people are in humble positions, but she absolutely reaped what she sowed and her life should be a warning to any other potential “Leah’s” out there.

@Laura_Seicean

In those times, having a husband was the best alternative. Remaing an old maid at the mercy of your relatives was very risky. That is why parents would make huge efforts to find a suitable husband for their dauthers rather than keep them as unmarried. Laban knew Jacob well and realised he was a good man who would treat Leah well even if she didn t love her and he was right. I think a lot of that rivalry in the family was caused by Rachel who couldn t have children and was frustrated by that. JAcob really tried to keep everyone happy regardeless of his personal feeling. And, yes, Rebbeca was asked if she wanted to marry Issac but Rebbeca as beautiful while Leah seemed not being able to find someone wiling to marry her so maybe she was in depair, maybe she wasnt happy that her husband loved another woman more but she worked the best with what she had and seemed to be able to be appreciative for what she had.

If you are unaware that name is one of the many used by the adversary. Lastly, I am very fortunate and have been blessed to know what the real name is. A lifetime of studying scripture and the desire for truth lead me to be taught the name. I don’t use the real name outside of prayer because it’s obviously meant to be treated with reverence and kept Holy. For some historical context or biblical/TORA point of view or teaching, the name is typically passed from from one Levite Priest to another through anointing. Thankfully through my love of YESHUA and the want for truth at any cost I have been gifted the name even though I am no priest. If I may ☝🏽. I am well aware of racism having been the recipient of its ignorant ways. Still if racism is what you spend you’re time on I can assure you are playing with the devils tools. It’s them who want you focused on the superficial, the division, intolerance and h@tried that it’s creates. There are good people everywhere, regardless of skin color. It is infinitely better to spend ones time nurturing the good in others than to empower ignorance with anger, intolerance or victimhood. For both Rachel *and* Leah, you can feel sympathy for both, yet also feel annoyed with the actions they take in trying to compete with each other in winning Jacob's love. Rachel may be considered the more haughty and spoilt one due to her being the more popular and beautiful of the two sisters, yet I also can't imagine the pain she must have felt when the man she loved (or at least I *believe* she loved Jacob as he did her and it wasn't purely a symbol of pride and vanity on her part) being stolen away from her on her wedding day by her own sister. Understandable she'd feel some hurt and resentment towards Leah for that. Though she'd also have to realise that Leban was *really* the one at fault here and could have tried to make peace with her sister for the sake of creating a somewhar healthy and stable home (under the tough circumstances anyway). Though also we also see Leah's pain of rejection due to always being in the shadow of her beautiful younger sister, and having the man she loves love Rachel instead. While she does *expect* too much from Jacob, as she *knew* he worked 7 years for her sister, it doesn't change the fact that it would have been painful to be married to someone who doesn't love you. So while I sympathise with *both* Leah and Rachel, I certainly don't condone their actions of using their maidservants to produce children for them, and using it as a weapon to one-up the other and fight over their husband's love and affections. I feel that Jacob must have had a real pain trying to keep *both* wives happy, especially Rachel the woman he loved. Plus, sharing a husband I'm sure would not be fun for *any* woman. A good reason why God meant a relationship between a man and wife to be monogamous, as a polygamous relationship is often a pit for jealousy and heartache.

The haughty moniker is given by modern feminist interpretations. the Bible gives little explanation to the characters of either women so are left to discern what we can by their actions. Rachael and Leah were the nieces of Rebekah who was described as a woman of character. We assume that Rachael wa haughty because of her looks so why then should we not assume Rebekah was being how she was very beautiful? We al know women who are pretty and homely who have character traits ranging from admirable to loathsome.
@emillyhale7557
@emillyhale7557 4 ай бұрын
@@jasonwilliams8321 Who knows, this is all speculation after all. It's hard to know if their aunt/mother-in-law Rebekah was the woman they took after in personality or if they were more scheming and selfish like Leban. Though Rebekah herself was also a schemer (which Jacob clearly took after) due to her ploy for Jacob to deceive Isaac into thinking he was Esau so he would get his father's blessing. Rachel is like *both* Rebekah and Leban in that she stole her father's idols and hid them underneath her and using the excuse that she had her period so Leban wouldn't touch her when he went looking the idols. We can't be sure what Rachel and Leah were like in character but it was *very* obvious their was a strong sibling rivalry between them and jealousy as a result of having to share a husband.

Why is Rachel being blamed for 'sullying the marriage' when one- Jacob already has another wife so there isn't much loyalty on his end and two-While it may have been her idea JACOB is the one that slept with the servant. And the text even implies that God was 100% on board with the whole servant surrogate plot. It seems like it was significantly more acceptable back then. Also how did this guy not have a single daughter?

Think that each biblical book was written from the perspective of the prevailing culture which was mostly patriarchal. Though few of the prominent women were mentioned and were written about( Ruth, Esther, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah). You're right. Rachel didn't sully her marriage. It was common practice then and some cultures still do it today. Also the man having multiple wives and mistresses wasn't a problem then.

Are you sure you have the correct narrative. Is it not about God and Tribes and nations. I think Rachel had struggled very much( seeing it from a woman's viewpoint) She maybe didn't give birth first or marry first, to the man who actually loved her. She struggled with great emotions not just jealousy. Nevertheless, they are all in God's account of history with multiple lessons

I've always said, Leah is one of the most emotionally abused women in the Bible. She had very little love from her Dad and husband. Her children brought her some joy though 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤦🤦🤦 Leah was tender eyed......i feel it may mean she was crossed-eye and that may not have helped her overall appearance. The sister's are described per their looks not personalities per se. While i still sympathize with Leah.im all Team Rachel😜🥰🥰 To be love and be loved is one of the greatest feelings ever😘

Rachel was barren and became jealous of Leah. God’s plan was for Jacob to have many children but it ended up turning into a competition between the women.. God specifically opened Leah’s womb and closed Rachel’s in order to fulfill the prophecy of the 12 children of Jacob. 1. God pitied Leah because she cared for Jacob. 2. Had Jacob impregnated Rachel from the beginning, the 12 tribes would not have been born. Jacob could have refused just as Abraham could have. But in both scenarios the men desired children. Therefore they sleep with extra women. And it is easier in the relationship if it’s the wife’s idea and not the mans.

Jacob had become apathetic he knew he was being tricked and deceived and he was just eating every trick he dished out. This is why he wrestled with the angel till he blessed him. He was a guy that knew the world was a revolving door but after his uncle and his wives used him he had enough and wanted God to just give him a fresh start. Leah is an example of unrequited love she wanted the love of Jacob but it was not there to begin with. Rachel is an example of desired love she thought that by not having children her husband would not desire her but he had the love there for Rachel even though she was barren. The main lesson here is humility. It was only until Rachel became humble she got a child when she realized that it's not about competition and vanity but all must humble before God and receive. A telling and useful tale.

I feel like we always try to lessen the fact that it really was a discussion about their looks: Leah was not beautiful and Rachel was gorgeous. So many women over time try to explain well it was Leah’s confidence or her something, but the Bible does not mince words around calling a woman beautiful or plain. I do think that this story underscores where the Bible states: man looks on the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. Remember Xerxes brings out Vashti to show off her beauty? Remember Esther…initially it was for her beauty. Sarah? Also. Rahab? Yep. So the problem is within us humans, that we focus on this outward appearance, that respect and attention is divided unto it. Jacob was tricked because he tricked Esau, it’s a story of how God works with us. Now as for Leah, I resonate with her, she was simply a victim of other people’s sin.

Amen! God chose Leah, Jacob chose Rachel. In the end, Leah was honored not only by being buried next to her husband Jacob but also the mother of which Jesus descends from through Judah their (Jacob and Leah) son. My heart is for Leah people assume she was in on her father's deceptive plan but the Bible doesn't tell us, so she surely was the victim of others sin yet God still honored her and blessed her.

Weak eyes are said to mean blindness. She was someone no one would have married back then because she would have been seen as a burden, even if she was only slightly vision-challenged. Where do you get anything about him not being turned on by her? Laban and his daughters made this pack to secure their stay at home and continuing wealth. He's a foreigner - to tie him down with multiple families was to guarantee his need to stay and work in their land. The bible doesn't show a rivalry, but a breeding competition - something country folk do to this day. Had they any hostility over him, one would not have sold him to the other for mandrakes...

There is nothing more beautiful than natural beauty the Bible teaches us many ways of doing so. It also teaches so it's the 10 commandments. Greed. Pride. And envy are from the devil. You harvest what you plant. And I'm so sad things like this have to happen. God will permit us to go to certain things so we can grow from them and learn from our mistakes.
