Jacob obeyed his parents while Esau did not and brought home wives who worshipped false gods. That’s ultimately what the story comes down to. God foreseen Esau’s decision making and he had terrible judgement. Esau just happened to be Issac’s favorite because of his talent for hunting which is normal for a father. But Issac did not look at Esau’s character as God did.

That's ridiculous. You look at things too simplistically. You are talking about greatest men who birthed the nation of Israel. These men were not as shallow as you think. You should listen to explanation from Rabbis who explain these matters much better and you will understand how they viewed the 2 sons

@@michaelross1452 the story of Jacob and Esau is not a parable. I’m pretty sure anytime a parable is being told it’s explained. Secondly Palestine is a Roman term used to describe the Land of Philistines. It has nothing to do with Jews.. let alone the fact they’re not even Jews. They’re European.

Esau and his people were the only people that had no repentance in the sight of TMH. That is the book of Obadiah. Roman 9:11-14 it says that God hated Esau. But it's not only because of what Esau did but what was also inside of him. His spirit. The same as Cain. Esau hated his birthright and purposely went against it. The book of Jasher definitely shines more light on Esau and Jacob.

@lynndunning1545

Jacob was actually continuing the saga of "the struggle in the womb" with Esau. It was Esau that Jacob struggled with in the night - It was Esau that injured Jacob's hip socket, dislocating the upper joint of Jacob's thigh - causing him to limp. It was Esau who gave Jacob a new name "Is-Ra-El". Isis-Raphaim-Elohim. That is who Jacob and Labon's whole family worshipped at that time. Abraham was the one who was different in his previous family ties - was called away from it, but that family had been priests of Nimrod, who Esau killed Nimrod, making Esau hated by that part of the family. If you investigate the passages before Jacob "struggled with the one who "looked" like an angel, Jacob had before entering the promised land told his wives, children and servants to remove their jewelry and bury their idols under an oak tree, because they would surely be killed if anyone was discovered with an idol. Who was monitoring people bringing in idols upon entering the land? ESAU and his army were! After the struggle, upon Jacob reuniting with Esau described him as having a face of an angel or something there about. Just remember, the story as it is in Genesis has some added content to separate the simple story and to send you off in a misunderstanding who Jacob was dealing with... It was Esau!!!

The fact anyone thinks any human being would do this easily is hilarious. This is easily one of the worst stories in the scriptures Esau is rough hairy Man (bad) Jacob a nice mommas boy(good) Esau traded away his entire future cuz he was a little hungry. Esau would have to be a retarded grown up who was an expert at hunting. He would have had to have been severely autistic where he couldn't see the value of things if he wasn't at the point of starvation. Just a way to villianize. Besides there is no present logic of the person who would save the world coming through their lineage. The blessing and birthright are 2 different things. This story God allows a wife to get her son to deceive her Husband and God upholds a blessing Isaac is in his heart was giving to Esau simply cuz he was touching him. This is the most morality devoid story in the bible. It shows God influenced a woman to deceive her husband

As someone who starting reading the bible, who doesn't know how the brothers evolve. I find Jacob to be the "bad" brother. What type of brother would let their sibling starve to death in exchange for compensation. Didn't Jacob trick his father; with his mother's help; into believing he was Esau in order to receive his blessing? Since Esau sold his birthright wouldn't that make Jacob first born and Esau destined to rule? Couldn't this treacherous act by Jacob have led Esau to become evil as I'm told he becomes? Seems to me Jacob has an "anything to get a head" mentality that's frowned upon now a days. I look forward to seeing how all this plays out.

Hello...your input is way off. You're viewing this from a carnality mindset. The Word of God says that He loved Jacob and hated Esau. It was God who flipped things in favor for or of Jacob to have the birthright!. God already knew that Esau didn't believe in God. Esau preferred the things of this world and Jacob preferred the things and heart of God. It's the same today, the white people prefer the riches or things of this world--they don't prefer God, himself. The white man or people IS ESAU...ESAU-EDOM!!!

The story of Isaac preferring Esau over Jacob but then naming Jacob as his heir has parallels in other myths. In Mesopotamian mythology the goddess Inanna originally prefers Enkidu the farmer but then chooses Dumuzi the shepherd. In another Mesopotamian myth, the god Enlil chooses the farmer god Enten over the shepherd god Emesh. In Roman mythology, the gods favored Romulus over his brother Remus. Also, in the Bible, God chooses Abel over Cain. Perhaps these types of myths, particularly the one about Inanna, Enkidu and Dumuzi, could be compared to love triangle stories, for example, in Arthurian legend, Queen Guinevere chooses Sir Lancelot over her husband King Arthur in an affair. In Welsh mythology, the femme fatale Blodeuwedd chooses Gronw Pebr over her husband the sun god Lleu Llaw Gyffes in an affair.

Good video, and great points. But the story eluded to mention the reason as to why Esau sold his rights. He had just killed Nimrod king of Babel and fled home knowing the kings men would soon come for him and kill him. Esau knowing he was going to die probably didn't care and perhaps Jacob knew this also and took advantage of that fact. Jasher ch. 27: 7 Puts a different twist on the story.

You have to travel for days to find the herd, you have to wait for a good shot, one miss fire you send the whole herd running, you have to decide to pursue or give up. Major calories burned going back and forth Esau most likely was dying from high levels of exhaustion and starvation. And if God was in volved, He probably scattered the game so that Esau wouldn't be able to find it. Giving up the "birthright" was not intentional it was a matter of life and death.
@somnium5603
@somnium5603 3 жыл бұрын
It reminds me of Adam and Eve. They made a promise to God and yet the "heel biter or cather" snake convinced them using a fruit. Because they broke the promise God then chased them away..😯Esau also broke the covenant with God because of food, listening to his "heel catcher" brother instead.

This true but let's say Esau never would of gave over his birthright to Jacob for a bowel of red pottage stew. And let's say He did die from this starvation, at the end of the day the Birthright including the inheritance still would of went to Jacob. God purposely orchestrated that and chooses whom ever he wants & as he pleases. God chose Jacob.

@@BlackEnchantress i don't think you see the context as scripture points out clearly that Esau despised his birth right and for that reason he was hated by the Most high, and as you should know this goes further on another most important issue that is the issue faith, in this life if there's anything that would bring you to your death is a lack of faith, if Esau had kept his birthright, he would have kept his integrity, and even if he did die for holding on to his integrity, he is left with the Hope that the Most High would raise him up or by whatever means to affirm and reward his faith for faith is the foundation by which everyone that are born in this life will live by,.. no exceptions, that is why the scripture states that those who are of faith are children of Abraham ( assuming you know already that faith without works is dead) ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 2 Esdras 2: 31 -100 '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This is my favorite story in the Bible. I like to think that Jacob earned or won his place unethically. But at the end of the day Essau agreed to give away his birth right. Furthermore, later in the story Jacob tricks Issac into giving him Essau's blessing. So it wasn't simply given to him by God. Jacob did what he had to do to get what he wanted.

@lynndunning1545
@lynndunning1545 3 жыл бұрын
@Ria a You are right to be skeptical! Esau was blessed while Jacob's descendants went into slavery in Egypt. Esau was given plenty of health and wealth by God. Esau is a representative of Adam. While Jacob is known as the trickster. Esau followed the ways of Abraham, not the ways of Haron (Aaron). Haron was Abraham's brother who had taken over for his dad Terah, who had been a priest of Nimrods kingdom and fertility religion. Esau's connection to Adam is the applied term "Red" also associated to king David as "Ruddy". Adam was created from the red earth. Esau is given Edom, a place of the red dirt. In the story about Rebekah and Isaac (the mom and dad of Esau and Jacob) Rebekah is barren (can't have children) and she wants to revert to her families fertility religion for help by going to a temple in Egypt. (The Bible says it was due to famine that they went to Egypt- but they had been told not to go to Egypt). But they went to Egypt anyway with Isaac pretending to be Rebekah's brother and Rebekah got taken into the kingdom and became engaged to the prince until the prince saw Rebekah and Isaac frolicking in the courtyard of the palace. The prince became outraged and sent them away from the kingdom... But Rebekah was now pregnant with twins. When they struggled in her womb, she was told there was two nations in her belly. That means two different daddy's. The struggle is legendary, but few know the meaning of it all - the key is similar to the issue of Cain and Abel. Cain being the seed of the Serpent and Eve, while Able was the seed of Adam and Eve. Esau was a hero in his time, he was given wives in the traditions of his times, first wife from his uncle Ishmael, then from surrounding kingdoms as a reward, because Esau killed their enemy Amraphael (aka: Nimrod, the one known whose tower fell; Ham-Rah-Fell).

Thanks for sharing. The way I read this story is a reminder that not everything is as it appears. Based on the obvious, it’s easy to judge that Esau is the rightful one - born first, the more compliant to societal standards and expectations etc. But God’s plan is always the better. So despite all the seeming weaknesses, God has chosen Jacob. For those who claims to have faith in the goodness of God, should put aside our limited judgments and surrender to God’s choice as HE knows better than anyone. I think if we can find the humility to let go of our logic and trust in God’s will, life will be less puzzling or seemingly unjust. Just my opinion. ✌️

Not sure the point of the story is that you gotta be mischievous and grabbing life head on is the way to go. Instead it shows the Faith that Jacob has and what he was willing to do, and how faithless and wicked Esau is to trade all of The Blessings of the most High God for a bowl of porridge. Example: millions of people to date trade The free Gift of GOD’s Grace which is in Jesus for money, fame, glory and other Earthly related things. One thing is true Easau cared for the things of the world and swore by it, where Jacob is set apart to care for the things of GOD WHO IS BLESS FOREVER. It also teaches that you may lie to your biological father but when God my Heavenly Father comes to wrestle you down, he will stop you in your midst and ask you “what’s your name” and make an honest man out of you. Where the old is Gone and dead, Jacob is now renew as Israel. BE BLESS

Perhaps Jacob was testing Esau, as many siblings do, to see if Esau would fight for or defend the birthright, having already had an inkling that Esau did not care about it. I see an example in this story of how God rewards those who value His gifts and promises, to the point of fighting for it, and how God is highly disappointed when any of His children are willing to walk away from a great inheritance in exchange for something cheap offered by the world. This was a test of Esau on both angles. Once this played out, it set the stage for Jacob being able to seal the deal when Isaac was passing .... AGAIN .... Esau felt he was entitled, but Jacob fought for it a second time. Jacob was the true warrior, which God honored.

The 12 tribes were named after Jacob's sons and grandsons. They were Asher, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Issachar, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, Zebulun, Judah and Benjamin. Of these 12, only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin survived.

@@HallowedLife What do you mean when you say Caucasian? The 12 tribes of Israel refers to the 12 ancient tribes that made up the original nation of Israel. White people in general have a Uralic rather than Middle-Eastern origin and no connection to the tribes of Israel, whose genes most likely stayed in the region (the Levant and Mesopotamia).

Time was calculated differently before 321 CE, why they lived longer back than?... For centuries the Romans used a period of eight days in civil practice, but in 321 CE Emperor Constantine established the seven-day week in the Roman calendar and designated Sunday as the first day of the week.
