When I was in the States, I was shocked by how bad the ingredient quality was at fast food places, not just Maccas. Hell, even just pieces of fruit were flavourless. Here in NZ, the ingredients just taste better (To my NZ brain) McDonalds is pretty notorious for having extremely local supply chains tho, so the product does change from place to place.

Location certainly plays a huge factor, but I don't think its all about the country. There's a mcdonalds in my small town in central California that tastes horrible, but the one in the next city a bit further up is god tier. Perhaps it can be dependent on the management/staff? Always a strong possibility.

There are so many places that are just better than mcdonalds in nearly every way that are chains, that they would also have to be Michelin star. ​@@ChloetteSK One year ago a cheeseburger and fries at a 5-Guys while on vacation in the Netherlands, it doesn't exist where I live so I was curious, it was good but overrated imo (or maybe I set my expectations wrong for a fast food chain, but their prices are relatively high) The other time was in fact McDonalds, it was a while ago so I don't even really remember when it was, much less what I ordered, but if MDs has one thing going for it it's consistency so it probably was exactly as expected. I do think their fries taste good though.

@@skybleat. i've not had popeyes, as it's not in my area. i've had KFC, Lee's, and Cane's; KFC is terrible as the chicken is like 30% breading and so crispy that it's impossible to chew properly; Cane's (judging solely by the chicken itself, your sauce, iced tea, and honey biscuits can't fucking save you here) is mid as fuck but not offensively bad like KFC is, and Lee's is actually good if a little bit too greasy at times

McDonalds really isn't great. When I was a child they opened a restaurant in the busiest location right in the center of my small, Swedish town. It was only around for a couple of years before shutting down. I much prefer the local hamburger chains and they aren't particularly good either. Recently, after ten years or so, they built a new restaurant at the very edge of town right next to the main road into town. Clearly targeting inbound traffic rather than the locals. But he's right about Burger King though. McDonalds isn't great, but I'll eat it. Burger King however is just pure garbage.

I think macdonalds deserves 1 star at most, for consistency, value for money (kinda), and the fact that some of their items do in fact taste incredible. 2 stars is pushing it though, their ice cream machines never work, their service is usually mid, some items are priced way too highly, some items are just bad especially breakfast items, and the food is designed to be inoffensive so it can often taste very bland and underwhelming. It deserves 1 star at most and even that I'm not sure about, but 2 stars is NL just talking out his ass.
