That first game had a serious horror aspect to it that was missing in all subsequent games. I loved 2 but it didn't have the same vibe, and 3 really leaned hard into the generic action game feel even if I loved it too

It kinda sucks that the Locust race was retconned to being a genetic cross between human and Imulsion. The idea that they were some indigenous, ever present but silent force that waited for humanity to destroy themselves *before* their Emergence Day was one of the best aspects of the original trilogy

@@batonrougerp7423 not really? It almost entirely contradicts it's because the Horde was always kidnapping people to turn into new Locust. But, they needed to be kidnapped children already anyway; and why would they need more soldiers if they could have just kept reusing the Sires? Again, it's more convoluted than it needs to be. And the idea of many theories as to what the Locust are, but no concrete answer is better than a convoluted one. Mystery over bloated reasoning.

I absolutely LOVE how at the berserker part Dom was on the ground bleeding out. That was hilarious to me because the exact same thing happens to me EVERY time I play gears 1. He is so useless at that part and in the final boss fight. The AI in gears 1 is just awful at sone points

When I fight the Gears 1 berserkers, it's as much a fight against them as it is their attention span. I swear, it was like Dom was actively trying to distract them so they wouldn't charge where I needed them to!

The remastered version of the berserker killing that cog soldier has always been the most gut wrenching death I've ever seen and heard in a video game. Reason?, the screams the get cut off as he's being pulled apart. This has literally been the only time I'm on the verge of throwing up from a video game death

I miss the horror feel of GoW 1, though thankfully 5 brought some of it back. I still have a clip from day one of my exploration of the creepy daycare basement. I even caught a ghost face in one of the door windows, gave me a right scare too.

Exactly, Gears 1 had a real horror element that sadly fell off with Gears 2 and totally died in Gears 3. I recall when Gears 2 came out I was kinda off put by the more generic vibe, and 3 just made it worse but I still loved those games

If you look close enough, you can see the Savage Hunters are wearing a beasts jaw over theirs. Given what’s known about Locust, it could be to further intimidate their targets when they’ve caught up with them. Or just to look amazing

This was a great video. I'm a total nerd for things like sci-fi or video game lore, which is why I hav this compulsion to collect anything that tells lore or history for a game like skyrim especially. I loved that it had actual books you could read with great stories and lore, I try to collect one of every book whenever I start a new character, even to the point I build a library on my house, even tho it means I can't hav an alchemy lab or other useful building in its place.

I’m pretty sure the large fangs of the savage hunter is actually a part of an animals skull they made into protective head gear. You can see their real mouth inside the helmets mouth. Idk why it’s red in color though.

Me and my brother LOVED playing GOW and we played every game until 4 (we don't have Xbox nor really plan to) and to be honest, from what I have seen/read/heard I thought the new GOW I feared that it was dying out. If I had to pick a variant, I would definitely go for the butcher do the fact that the butcher is a chef and I wonder what locust cooking is like besides just rock worms.

It’s a gears of war 3 pc build that I downloaded thanks to members in the Gears PC discord. I used commands to spawn in as the Grinder for instance on a regular game mode
