Watching this video I just now realized that the device bard finds that has a map of the hollow after the resonator fails is the same device that carmine throws into the pit during the first mission. Could’ve avoided the whole resonator situation from the start.

The reason that marcus wasn't killed was because Adam said that he would only work with them if they kept marcus alive and safe

Sort of, don't discredit Marcus though. He didn't know his father made a deal with both the Prescott, and Myrrah. When Marcus left his post to save his father, thousands of people died. Onyx Guards were supposed to get Adam, Myrrah ordered her forces to get both Marcus and Adam. Had it been anyone else they would've been shot for treason. It was pretty much a death sentence because there was no definite way to defeat the locust, but instead, he was sentenced to 40 years. Raam and Scourge weren't pulling any punches. Marcus, Adam, Hoffman, Anya, her mother, Dom, and Bernie were all 26th RTI, the most highly decorated Regiment in the gears verse.

I remember when I first played this game and looking at a chainsaw attached to a gun and thought this was one of the most coolest weapons ever and pretty much ended up being obsessed with the game. When someone said this game had one of the best story lines ever in gaming wasn't lying. The first 3 were beyond amazing. Sadly after the 3rd one the games didn't feel the same.

1,2 and 3 was the whole series. Don't know why they made a 4 and 5. You knew in 2 that you had to keep your eyes open because they were shooting at you in Nexus. Whoever designed the building structures for the nexus and the hollow was a genius.

Agreed, it doesn't have the same scale. It really should have been 4 games and ended with the locust destruction. Years ago I did a rewrite of the games and had a second game between Gears 1 and 2, so 2 would be 3 and 3 would be 4. I think it would have been better because the lambent game play kinda sucked too. Karn would be the villain of the 2nd game too

Great video again and I'm pretty sure I said a similar thing on one of your other videos. Lore and timeline videos are really great at bringing things together. Much of this lore can often be given out of order, years apart or even in a piece of DLC that we didn't get. This has structured the key events into a clear timeline. Nice video.

The trilogy of gears 1,2 and 3 will always be my all time favourite game series to me it was perfect I got my Xbox after playing gears 1 round my bros house it started strong got better with 2 and 3 was an all round perfect game the campaign was truly unbeatable it’s a shame what happened with 4 and 5 and I’m scared for 6 it should have ended with 3 and remained perfection all round I give a pass to judgment as it was a prequel and I’m all for more of those just to add more story to the trilogy

I think 4 and 5 get way more hate than they deserve given how as far as expansions upon franchises that introduce younger characters it could be a lot worse (wolfenstein new collossus and the one with BJs kids, far cry 6)

Adam Fenix knew of the locusts 5 years before emergence day through notes left behind by his wife Elaine. Myrrah revealed herself, the locusts, and their plight with the lambent. With the pendulum wars going on, and developing the hammer of dawn there was little time to search for a cure. Anything Adam could think of would destroy the lambent and every single locusts since imulsion is in their DNA. Myrrah fighting a losing war underground, surfaced and knew the humans would never help them .Adam never told a soul about how his wife died, or about the locusts.

I remember playing Gears of War 2 coming up with theories and stuff. One of my theories was and not to far off. But at the time I believed the locusts or the ancestral Locust was an ancient civilization that was underground and they wanted to combine human DNA was the creatures that live underground to create the next evolution of humanity because the Niles guy was obsessed with godhood. And I believe the queen was that creation. She was the first hybrid. And I thought things will be answered in Gears of War 3 sadly it wasn't but when I start a play was it Gears of War 4 or 5 I don't remember cuz I don't know the games but I played through them once I go back to the facility and I was kind of glad that we get to explore the facility but at the same I felt like I already do the answer and I wasn't surprised but then again I think that's the way Marcus felt too is that he already knew.

Ide like to see a game taking place during the first months of the war A group a gears assigned to defend a munitons plant the first bit is easy they have acess to hevy wepons and armor but eventually you findout that the locast were just probing the defense then in one qick atack the power to the hevy wepons is taken out then as you try to fix it the locast dig under and sap the generators to completely destroy them in doing so the comend oarders the team to cover a full evac of the facility over the coarse of a week indoing so your unit is over run and eliminated

We would be utterly annihilated. Anything short of heavy calibers wouldn't do enough damage to a single locust drone. We'd run out of all our heavy weaponry so fast and wouldn't be able to maintain production given how the locust would be attacking everywhere all at once lmao just resort to nukes and wipe out everything

@@therookie7060 I don't think it'd do much unless the same spot is concentrated on or headshots are landed. Locust survive bullets from COG weaponry which are obviously much stronger than our own. We'd need to use fast bullets with armor piercing capabilities. The faster the bullet the better chances it'll penetrate and do more internal damage. Still I think they'd steam roll us with their digging/emergence capabilities attacking all at once. Without this tho I think we'd win because a reaver isn't stacking up to a jet lmao

Id love to play as just a Unnamed gear maybe they just have a call sign like in Halo reach were Noble 6 the gear we play as is Male or Female, Callsign is something-4 or idk whatever. With us playing as a Regular gear that's fought in some battles seen in the regular game. Like how we see Alpha 9 in Gears 2. And we could customize our gears armor etc. But they are stuck wearing a helmet or something.

This is close to my idea. Essentially the beginning of Gears 4 where you play through the flashbacks as random soldiers, but an entire game of that. Let you play through different eras, anthology style, and be able to see different events happening through the eyes of a common Gear. Seeing the main characters from that perspective would be awesome too, just imagine Delta squad coming in to save your ass outta nowhere

The problem is that myrrah was a locust supremacist and she probably correctly predicted that the locust would never be treated properly if they were ever to migrate to the surface. The locust arent exactly pretty and many of them lack a high degree of intelligence. Gears 5s campaign talks about how the locust were created from myrrah's and sire DNA (late stage imulsion infected humans). So in a way she felt that all locust were her children and thus had a strong bond with them. Because she spent her entire childhood trapped in a lab and being experimented on for a human evolution project she has no love for humanity.

The only thing not 100% right about this video is that Dom’s testimony dint save Marcus’ life. Prescott was using Marcus as a motivation for Adam Fenix to continue his work on the lightmass bomb while on Azura. This is all covered in the book/ audiobook “the slab” I highly recommend it to those interested in how Marcus got his scar, and the war crime Marcus was accused of.

ive never played the games, did they ever try collapsing the tunnels onto the locust formations? I know theyre naturally subterranean but with the amount of weight that would fall on them, i think only the worms would survive such a trauma

Oh they tried only for that to fail twice. The first attempt was with the Lightmass bomb. The second attempt was a mutated Lambent Brumak self destruct after getting orbital striked and that was a partial success, but partial failure given the events of Gears of War 3.

That was essentially what they tried to do. The lightmass bomb was probably the biggest mistake they made because they awoke the riftworm who then decimated several cities.

God I wish they'd finish the post-war stuff and make a trilogy about the Pendulum Wars and E-day Kait's story arch is fantastic but the Swarm are just not interesting antagonists.

The submarine level in gears of war 3 annoys me to this day. It's one of the few missions in that game I can't beat on insane difficulty
