I love the Benefit Microfine Brow product but the price is a bit outside my budget currently. It's so smooth and the color 5 is perfect on me. I haven't tried the CoverGirl yet. Thanks for sharing!

The automatic pencils always break on me, so I switched to regular pencils and am happy with the one from Benefit. However, I recently discovered that I can get the automatic pencils from the Sephora line for about $12 and the perfect grayish taupe color, so I switched.
@thelipstickgal9 ай бұрын
I don't have problems with automatic pencils breaking normally. It can happen to an eyeliner or lip liner if I've had them for a long time, but I was surprised the benefit one snapped off. 🫤

I love the new ELF waterproof pencil, and then either the Merit brow pomade or the Maybelline Brow Stylist. I don’t need much as I do tint and laminate. I find the high end skinny little pencils really are not worth it as they break way before you can use them. That was my main issue with the Anastasia Brow Wiz
@thelipstickgal9 ай бұрын
If I was willing to make regular appointments to get my brows tinted and laminated, I'd probably be fine with something less detail oriented. I do like the new elf pencil, but I need more hold than the merit 1980 brow pomade.

Thank you! I’m in the hunt for the smallest brow pencil. This was super helpful. Are you a fan of pens? I’m curious about it. I’m a pencil gal myself.
@thelipstickgal9 ай бұрын
I like pens, but I have good days and bad days. With pencils, I have fewer bad days. I've been using a pencil for longer, so it's more in my comfort zone. I haven't tried all the teensy tiny pencils on the market, but. . . I could fall down that rabbit hole with very little inducement. 🤦♀️

I have had my eye on the Benifit. It is small. Maybe I will try the Cover Girl. I want to get into Ulta this weekend. I have full brows. They are totally gray. I am a Benifit Gal. I think I have had all their styles at some point. Have a great weekend ❌️ ⭕️

I like benefit brow products, but I'm not excited about the $25 price for such a small amount. I'd be willing to pay mid $20s for a pencil you sharpen, or a slightly wider diameter "micro" pencil. Unless the CoverGirl one completely fails after a while, I'll probably opt for that one.

@@maureenhansen8321 I think it comes down to if you can find your shade. Right now, the CoverGirl is only available on the Ulta website. It might be in stores at other retailers, but my local stores take forever to get the new stuff. If you can find a good shade in the CG, I'd start there.

I have the Huda Brow Pencil that’s .99 mm because I love the small size. It’s 0.0008 oz for $17 Even though there is a small amount, it takes awhile to finish it. I have normal-ish brows but some definite sparse spots that need help. The small size of the pencil just makes my brows look more natural. I feel like it looks better on me than the pens. If I get the pen JUST RIGHT it looks good, but 1/2 the time I don’t and it’s too thick and looks bad. It’s too much of a gamble. I’ve used the Huda since it came out, but when I run out I’ll definitely try the Cover Girl!! It’s $5 cheaper and you get a little more. I might as well give it a whirl! This red lipstick shade looks AMAZING on you! I looked to see what it was …Hermes! Of course! Why couldn’t it have been a $35 lippie??!! 😂😂
@thelipstickgal9 ай бұрын
Sorry about the Hermes lipstick. : ) It's beautiful, and I was going for a "French Chic" look. I haven't tried the Huda pencil, but recently I've been intrigued by new brow products. I like my trusted duo from EM Cosmetics, but I'm always curious about what else is out there. When my brows are off, I look a little nuts, and I need a little help but not too much. Sometimes the brow pens can get a little out of hand, and I feel like it's a gamble on if it's going to be a good brow pen day, or not. That's why I opt for pencil whenever I can.

Can you compare them to my beloved IT cosmetics universal brow in taupe please
@thelipstickgal9 ай бұрын
It's been a while since I've had the IT cosmetics pencil. I remember it being oval, but about the same size as the ABH or NYX micro pencils. Both of these are so much smaller. So. Much. Smaller.

Hi, I now have more sparse brows than when I was in my 20s so I am happy with a micro pencil. I like the one from Nabla in Neptune (0,085 gr / 0,003 oz), also the colour is just right for me, a greyish brown with enough brown so that it does not look too grey. It is a bit hard but in comparison with others I tried still the best one for me. 20 years ago I used an eyeshadow by Bobbi Brown and their brush and it worked really good but I do not have so thick brows anymore...90s eyebrow trend ruined mine 🙃
@thelipstickgal9 ай бұрын
I'm so glad my mom used her own over plucked eyebrows from the 60s as a cautionary tale when the 90s skinny brow rolled around. I listened to her, and just waited it out. That's the only thing that saved me from the skinny 90s brow. As I get older, I do notice that I have less volume in my brows than before, but a good pencil makes all the difference. I like these newer micro/nano pencils. I don't think I'll use it to fill in my entire brow daily, but rather to fix a persistent gap in my brow. I do like the ABH sized tiny pencils, but sometimes a super skinny pencil was what I was craving.

Do you find the Covergirl color to be neutral? So many browns run warm and look red.
@thelipstickgal9 ай бұрын
I feel like it's certainly warmer than I would normally reach for. It works for me, but I'd want to try the next shade down when I finish this one. I have been reaching for it a lot over the past 2 weeks. It's so easy to apply. After doing the cost analysis, I don't think I'll be repurchasing the one from Benefit. I'd have to have that one fall into holy grail territory to repurchase. I'm not sure It's quite there yet, but we'll see.

I’m using one right now that is so tiny from Gwen Stefani, I have to be careful cause it will easily break, after I finish it I won’t be repurchasing❤Benefit is the one I always go back to, when Ulta has them half off I stock up.
