What do you think of the relationship these two have with each other?

I have friends who are perfectionists that are very close to OCD. It is very hard growing up in such a household because whatever you do, it is never good enough. Same with being a spouse of such a person. But I adore Martha and have followed her for more than three decades. She inspires us and gives us permission to set the bar higher.

Being thoughtful & doing things well is a good thing. So can being corrected. As well as seeing perfection if everything. We wouldn’t have Monet or Picasso. So it’s all good. But Martha is like the old masters. Money & Picasso can’t stand up to Leonardo di Vinci. I refer the old masters where skill & the perfect were valued more. This is who Martha is. It’s all good.

If is a typo. In is the word I meant to write. I’m not a perfectionist here.

Not all moms are touchy feely. Still a big Martha fan.

Some people should never, ever be parents -- and ought to think about that very carefully before moving in that direction. Not everyone is cut out to be a Mom or Dad and it will wreck havoc on the children brought into the world. In this instance, at least Alexis does have a very comfortable life materially and two children of her own -- hopefully well adjusted.

Alexis will now have a legacy created by her awesome Mother! One day she will respect what her Mother created.

Im sure she would have rather had a present mom. Money doesnt really make people happy after a certain threshold.

Money will not bring happiness…..Martha doesn’t have a relationship with her daughter or grandchildren…That’s not a legacy…

You can appreciate and respect your mother and still see her flaws and talk about the neglect you lived. Martha talks about how bad her father was and it was her Father….

As a helicopter mom, I really don’t understand how a parent could be so detached from their own child.

Martha’s mom and dad were also detached. It’s a common cycle that’s hard to break.

It's interesting how she made a living as a homemaker but wasn't the stereotypical homemaker that stays home for the sake of their love for the children. I thought homemaking was about taking care of all aspects of the home mainly the kids. Interesting.

Alexis has no reason to complain. There are parents that starve their children, beat them, and pimp them out for drugs.

She has every reason to complain. If there's any truth to what was said here, she was neglected and made to feel unworthy.

Martha didnt break the cycle of her family. She continued it with a little money thrown in. Completly emotionally cut off. Hopefully her daughter breaks the cycle and heals the pain the rest of her family refuses to feel.

I think both Martha & Alexis are very good women, smart & close. From talking to my girlfriends & seeing their relationships with their mom, I think all of this is normal. Those acting like it’s not probably forget their imperfections. Martha loves her daughter & vice versa. But when you’ve spent 18 years together & many of them changing years everyone is bound to have complaints. We just don’t have anyone willing to buy the stories. Martha just has high standards & Alexis probably does too. It was also the times. Women had to work harder than men too to be successful. Martha probably also was going through cycles like we all do. Give her a break. Alexis too. Cuz Martha loves her daughter & Alexis loves her mom. I couldn’t sit on my bedspread too because it had to be dry cleaned. So I couldn’t sit on bed when it was on the bed. It’s just practical re washing. But I understand also what Alexis was saying. It’s funny really because these are common complaints. My grandma wouldn’t let you sit on her couch if you were sweaty or just got done playing tennis. The sweat has oil from skin & makes spots & leads to soiling. I also had to wear socks on my feet when walking on my carpet so the oils from my feet didn’t stain the carpet. Remember when my Grandmother & Momgrew up it was t that easy to get a new bedspread that matched the wallpaper & this was special. It was costly to rerug. My mom is like Martha & keeps everything for repurposing. My grandmother never threw away foil or wasted anything. People used to keep things to repurpose. If you lived through a depression & didn’t have things you thought about what you threw away. Have a lot of this in me still. It’s not bad. It actually is very environmentally friendly. You use & waste less. I think the world of Martha & her daughter. I also think we shouldn’t expect women & their relationships with their daughters to be alike. Really though probably these relationships are more alike than we think. Martha’s relationship with her daughter not that different than mine or the relationships I’ve seen. But someone was trying yo make Martha look bad by offering a book deal & money o daughter to tell these stories, which show Martha & Alexis have a normal mother daughter relationship. Again, those who judge, let’s scrutinize every moment of your life & offer money too good to pass up to say really not bad things, just normal things that happen when you are growing up. Gosh, & both had strain of public scrutiny, & had to go through a divorce. Give women a break women. We have cycles & Martha probably had to go through womanly changes in the workplace. I’m glad she wanted her pots to be quality if she put her name on it. That’s integrity! Martha has integrity, wants quality. Good for her. That’s why we love her. I’m tired of living I a society that looks derogatorily on normal, good, and ncompromising women. She set a high standard & that is why you hear her attacked. Women should know that Martha was treated differently because of the quality person of who she is. We should all have her back & know better than to go along with the assault on the first woman to build a billion dollar company. Women should thank Martha for taking the big hit for them. She has. God bless Martha & her daughter for weathering so much together.

Anyone who had the brains & balls to tell THE TRUTH WOULD. If you had an absent/careless/cold/abandoning or abusive parent, EVERY CHILD SHOULD TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT THEM.

Why on earth does Alexis still use Stewart last name? She's married to a lawyer for long time, her married name is Cutir. Then she bs about fertility probs when her only prob was she didn't want kids with her husband until was in her 40s so mom paid for all the medical expenses. Unlike her hardworking mother Alexis is very spoiled. Would laugh if Martha leaves her $3.00 in will.
