One of the best stories about meeting the queen was told by someone who was most excited about doing so -- but forgot to put her cell phone on "silent." As the queen greeted her, her phone rang. The poor woman was mortified until the queen smiled and said, "You should get that, Dear. It might be someone important."

The rule prohibiting touching the queen is actually a very practical one. She meets an average of over 50,000 people a year. She cannot afford to get sick as that would reduce the number of appearances she makes. The more people she has contact with the more likely she is to catch something. This in part is why she almost always wears gloves at such events. It wasn't until fairly recently that it was realized that invading her personal space like so many people have, also increases the risk of illness to her. One of the few items she keeps in her purse is hand sanitizer which she has carried for years.

I saw the Queen and Prince Philip while on holiday with my parents in Torquay in 1988 and the Brittiannia was moored in Torbay. The Queen was planting a tree to open the new leisure centre and was dress In beautiful sunshine yellow to match the weather. Then again in Plymouth, the following day where The Queen and Prince Philip carried out a walk about. My daughter was 9 months at the time and a big police officer lifted her up and put her on her shoulders and she didn’t like men, she normally would have roared but not this time, she sat quietly on his shoulders holding onto his helmet, we were so amazed but anxious when he lifted her waiting for the outburst of crying. Two absolutely fantastic days, but a sentimental one as well, as it’s not every day you get the opportunity to see The Queen and Prince Philip and this will always remain at the forefront of my memory and mummy stated that she felt so honoured to see the Queen

Really is true. People don't understand, The Queen was raised to be EXTREMELY down-to-earth and normal. Especially since she was never really realistically going to be The Queen, because her Uncle Henry (and his eventual children) were supposed to be The King, and the line to the throne. But he decided to abdicate the throne to marry his divorcee girlfriend, Wallis Simpson. This made Henry's brother and The Queen's father, George, the King, and then he died and she became Queen. They raised The Queen out in the country of Windsor, and she was in the army, fixed and drove cars, was super nice and playful, and was really just a sweet (and non-pretentious) girl.

However, that same day, I had just left the Tower of London and Her Majesty was due at a public event up the road. Since I was so far back, the crowd being about five deep in front of me, I took out my camera and held it up over the crowd, hoping against hope. Her car came by and I snapped the picture. Likewise if the Queen visits your business, it's about your business, not her. The timing thing is to ensure everything runs smoothly. As an Indian I demand an apology of all the jewels 💎 the royal family stole from india and should return. This includes Maharaja Ranjit Singh's throne was made by the goldsmith Hafez Muhammad Multani about 1820 to 1830, for the eponymous ruler of the Sikh empire. It is made of a wood and resin core, covered with sheets of repoussé, chased and engraved gold. This also includes Koh-i-Noor Diamond-and Why the British Won’t Give It Back? The Koh-i-Noor diamond set at the front of the crown made for the Queen Mother Elizabeth.

She doesn't really appear as stuffy as she seems to be. It is like that walking ahead is more courtesy thing is more than anything else when they let her walk ahead of them. When the president wore sunglasses they may discussed before hand. We don't what it was about. I think there are allowances for some things. She seems like a very sweet lady.

I know in my case my eyes are really sensitive to sunlight, and if I don't wear sunglasses, within a few minutes my eyes turn red and watery. There are enough pictures of President Biden wearing sunglasses when outside that I wonder if he has the same condition.

She cares about the protocols surrounding her in so much as it helps her uphold a certain image. She won't go out of her way to breach protocol and make life living hell for people that are there to oversee the protocol, but she won't have you hunted down if you slightly bend a couple of rules for your convenience.

she's just been stuck with/in their absurdity. I would have had no less than admiration if she'd had an act of special courage, but with the ultimate and supreme class due to her station, to break the mould from such ridiculous obsoleteness. I fear however only a few too few have that particular grace under fire. and so...foolish things then, go on...

When I was growing up, my stepfather was a member of parliament in one of the British colonies. My mother, an American, always liked to bend the rules slightly. They along with the other M.P.'s and their spouses had to meet the Queen and other dignitaries when they would visit the island. At some point during one of the Queen's visits and at some ceremony or other, my mother was standing near her. She actually spoke to the Queen first, but just briefly. Her Majesty responded! There is risk of getting embarrassed if the Queen ignores you when you do that, but my mother mentioned H.M.'s beloved corgis and the Queen actually responded! I also remember a story about the Queen arriving in some U.S. city and being given a hard time because she did not have a passport. She's not supposed to have a passport! How embarrassing for the people who screwed that one up at whatever airport it was. Or perhaps it was more embarrassing for the protocol person charged with instructing those who would be handling the Queen's arrival. Despite all of the rules and enough protocols to gag a person, and having to live in that never-ending fishbowl, I have always thought of the Queen as being a real person who has been perfect at doing that balancing act required of her as she carries almost a thousand years of tradition on her shoulders.

The story about her having a hard time because she didn't carry a passport is a legend. The possibility that the queen, landing in a foreign country, could be asked for her passport is nil. It's not like she's going through immigration. The person meeting her first will be a head of state, not a custom officer.
