Hi, the curves were always progressive in your video. Progressive assistance -> assist build up delay needed, to avoid the uncontrollable jump. My favourite would be at climbing: progressive till 5-6 mph and then degressive assist. In that case your focus will be on the track instead of the effort. Your legs keep automatically the 5-6 mph.

Being able to alter max torque on ep8 trail and boost mode is great. I actually prefer ST Unlocker to mod the assist because I can use presets. Some trails I don't need all that power, but I need range. I have preset of that trail. Shimano is still behind Spec in integration, but they did make a good jump forward with the EP8.

What is max boost set at from the factory in profile? Do you need the app to get max boost in profile 2?

Thanks for this very helpful video on a confusing issue. I still am not sure about how power and cadence relate when adjusting the levels. Why doesn't Shimano just build in functionality so I can link my phone to the bike WITHOUT buying the junk computer?Just got my 2023 Orbea Rise and was told I needed to have the Shimano computer SC-EN610 which is a huge ripe off as the computer has to mount on a bracket that cost about $100 making the total cost for this set up over $300! and the computer does not have the functions of a Garmin or a Wahoo. Also it mounts in such a way that it will be destroyed if I crash. Keep up the good reviews.

You probably figured this out by now but you don’t need the Shimano computer to link with your rise, only if you want to adjust without pulling out your phone

Thanks for the video but I could not get the app to disconnect form the bike when I was finished with it! Had to take the battery out and back in again to get it to disconnect! Was really frustrating! I have a new Vitus E-sommet 297

Re: slow vs fast assist mode, why not regulate the torque you apply to the pedal rather than relying on the bike computer. Isn't that more natural? I think instant assist response will give me full control of the ride.

Never rode anything but bose and creo. Thinking about the fezzari with shimano. Would keep levo, but being a slower rider i like shorter chainstays.

You need the em 800 display from Shimano to use the app. This display works Bluetooth only.

Different brands can select different feels for each profile. We should have clarified that was the case for this particular bike, others may be different. Thanks!
