Great question! We built the Shuttle LT for riders who demand control on the most rugged trails. To achieve this, we gave the Shuttle LT Bosch’s highest level, lightest and most powerful drive unit. The recent update of the standard CX BDU38 drive unit from Bosch is quieter and smoother than its predecessor. However, it is still not comparable to Bosch halo product - the Limited-Edition CX RACE Motor. The Limited-Edition Race Motor is lighter than the CX performance drive unit and runs on long-lasting low-drag ceramic bearings. It also provides 60 percent more power than the Performance CX along with the additional Race Mode assist level.

@@TheLoamWolfI did noticed but, personally didn't bother me one iota; cobsidering the lightning of the video as well, I believed to be some 80s spin-off to a video made in '24; for me, it looked cool. As for the rest, by the time I asked that question, in the OG video and this, the second one, I did find out about the wholesale huge stock clearing at Bosch for the gen 4 motors and batteries; even "supermarket" brands got their hands on large quantities, the price was that good. As I now know better, I will never believe the mumbo-jumbo with the performance oriented decision but I do also get that the new molds costed a fortune as well and that the final product is still a great one...with the unfortunate flaws(lesser characteristics) of the bosch gen 4. Personally, I wouldn't pay that much money for old tech(at this point) but, if there will not be a demand and discounts will start to appear, I might be interested;...then again, I am reff to big big discounts, not 20-30%, as 15-20% you can get just by walking on the front door of the shop.😁😁
@TheLoamWolfАй бұрын
Glad you liked the retro vibe and look. Thanks. Yeah, there’s no denying that Pivot has given consumers a lot to think about, or maybe not for some. At this point in time, our preliminary testing shows the Race Gen 4 drive unit to be more efficient range wise, using less watts per mile, than Gen 5 but admittedly testing is limited at this point. And power on the Race unit is currently higher than the Gen 5… but who knows for how long? One topic we’ve spent the last week thinking about is how much people have been complaining about Bosch rattle and noise. We found it interesting that so many media outlets and other reviews have not talked about how loud the rattle is, only that Bosch is so much better than Shimano. And once the switch was flipped and Gen 5 came out, all of a sudden everyone had a problem with how loud Gen 4 was?? Haha. As someone who regularly had critical comments, we’d love to hear your thoughts on that topic? Were people in your crew complaining about Gen 4 Bosch noise 6-8 months ago? Or did it become more pronounced once people knew an update was coming?
@eugenuxАй бұрын
@@TheLoamWolf good question; don't have one clue about what media is doing, although I believe that they had to mention some improvements on the gen 5, over the gen 4 and, if Bosch themselves said that it is less noisy and rattly, than it is/shoul be, right? As for us, the consumers, I can only look at me and my friends and there are two "camps"; some guys are bothered and some say they didn't mind or hear the rattles on the downs. 🤷🏻 , each to his own, I guess!
@TheLoamWolfАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing your friends "camps" seems about right... This whole Gen 5 launch has certainly been interesting because brands like Pivot and Santa Cruz (to name 2) had Shimano eBikes for the last year. And we'd see countless comments and emails saying, no matter how good we thought the bike was, they'd buy that bike but it has Shimano instead of Bosch (Gen 4) so they're out. Shimano-equipped eMTB sales suffered massively because it was as if Bosch were the must have drive unit. No complaints of the noise and rattle that have all of a sudden made it 'unrideable' to consumers now that Gen 5 is out... Just has us chuckling a bit as typically commenters always blast media as being the fanboys pushing the new stuff (apparently that's the hit word these days), but it now seems that the consumers are the fan boys...? We think more people just need to get out and ride and have fun! haha.
