Arresting, breath taking work JSA.
@Troy-Moses2 жыл бұрын
An overlooked and subtle detail which I really appreciate is that dimensional lumber was used for the roof concrete formwork, thus imprinting the wood grain and planks into the concrete... Though the style of the house itself may not be unique, the execution is superb.

Stunning work on every level. Looking from a passive perspective, how does it perform in terms of energy and airtightness, moisture etc. Does it require a lot of heating and cooling? Would love to see the detailing, for example I barely notice any drainage for the level entry. Great work James Stockwell.
I wondered this too. What it’s like to live with comfort-wise. And how it was certified. Agree with drainage too. Very inconspicuous.
@tracejohnson62732 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Lovely, but details would be iffy. Sound, too. While travel through concrete walls is surely limited, overall attenuation seems difficult in a concrete structure. Safety would also be a concern with lots of hard, smooth surfaces and even a part of the sliding glass door that drops into a stairwell across the threshold.

As a Dane living in Southern California, this house definitely looks nice and reminds me about some houses in Beverly Hills here but they generally lack such seamless integration with nature. Personally I don't like to see spiders or other insects crawling around my house too often and hopefully that is not an issue for this house.
