I agree. I saw an interview with John Hart. He admitted that he knew he wouldn't be able to fill Clayton Moore's shoes for the role, but felt blessed to have had the opportunity. I love the episodes with John Hart.

Clayton Moore will always be The Lone Ranger to me, tho I’m very grateful that John Hart acted the part to keep the program going for a year as the disagreements were settled w/Clayton and the producers.

No the producers found out that Hart could not replace Moore in the publics eye and asked Moore to return at a better salary.
