actually, George Carlin was angrier in 1972 when he was arrested for saying the '7 dirty words', he was so angry he purposely said them to get arrested and fight for our freedom of speech, along with other comedians like Lenny Bruce, they opened the door for everyone- sadly, censorship is back, call it 'getting canceled' or what you like, but our freedom of speech is limited, again, only this time we dont have a George Carlin, everyone simply bows their heads, get on their knees and go along-

Honestly, one of the hardest parts of growing up for me, as an American, was learning that my world was painted with rose tinted glasses. We really were kinda raised to believe we lived in this sort of Leave It to Beaver/Andy Griffith dream of the USA. As you guys pointed out, the youth today are learning to think differently, but even as a 90s kid I really thought my country was almost flawless. I think high school was around the time I started to realize things weren't adding up. Now I'm 33, and very much a believer in the idea that power will always corrupt. I will pretty much never trust any government, leader, really anyone who holds that kind of power.

Carlin was less a "comedian" than a social commentator - and the fact that he was so blatantly honest about it offended those in positions of privilege and power, which is why a lot of folks are convinced he was a comedian (based on the mistaken assumption that anything which irritates those they don't like is "funny").

George Carlin was a genius...I grew up listening to his routines on tape...he was one of the people I listened to to go to sleep at night. But George became increasingly strident, cynical, and downright angry as time went by. He could still be wickedly funny, but it became more about him airing his grievances, and his last few albums were very morose and one note in their tone. ✌✌

You have "comedians" like George Carlin, Lenny Bruce, Dick Gregory, Bill Hicks, Ricky Gervais and to some degree Bill Burr, Chris Rock, Richard Pryor & Dave Chapelle who are primarily philosophers who can deliver their ideas in a funny non-scholastic way. Essentially they reduce, simplify & summarize complex ideas into bite-sized thoughts designed for the average human with a short attention span. Perfect for TV. However all these concepts are available to everyone if they take the trouble to read a lot. Sadly not likely to happen. In other words we need folks like this to point out simple truths. Maybe Jesus, Mohammed & Buddha had these skills as well. Maybe they were also stand up "comedians" of their day, but their jokes didn't survive translations & the passage of time. "Blessed are the cheesemakers"!

If that was the case why did the Japanese Americans receive retribution for the suppression of their rights if they didnt exist? Rights exist whether or not government recognize them. Hence 10 14 etcetra list of rights by every country. If your government violates its covenant and suppresses the peoples' rights than sooner or later the people will revolt and throw down that government. It is in the governments own interest to recognize the peoples rights and to protect them.

@aaronmicalowe2 жыл бұрын
The problem is people judge God based on religion. That's like judging children based on the behavior of pedophiles. If there's a God it existed long before there were humans to invent religion, so God doesn't need religion. Religion uses God as some kind of bogeyman to frighten people into submission so they'll do what priests want (usually to give donations without complaining so they can live forever on nothing while lording over people and pretending that they're better than them).

As much as I like George, he is totally wrong about the US Bill of Rights...If he was paying attention, our Constitution and Bill of Rights does not "Grant" Rights. The Constitution / Bill of rights is a negative rights document, IT CALLS out what the US Government CANNOT DO!, not what Rights we HAVE. Read it people, it's pretty clear once you understand it. It "Limits" what the government is allowed to do.
