I couldn't engrave a border line evenly around these boards. I thought something in my Lightburn template was off but then the light came on. I grabbed my framing square and found that these boards all have at least one side that is out of square. Since I have wood working tools I can fix the boards so I can put edge borders on the boards and not get any complaints from the picky Etsy customers. Rich, when finances get better you will be getting a donation. I would still be in the Stone Age with Lightburn if I hadn't found you in their forum. Thanks for the great videos.

Back before Christmas I was doing so many of these I stopped trying to trace them and started using threshold and just adjusting the image for the best burn. I found most people wanted it to look exactly like the original so allot of what I was removing to clean up the image was actually parts of the recipe or the handwriting that they wanted kept in.

Great video and the board looks great! Boards like these and other decorative pieces are why I bought the laser. I cut down and slabbed up 6 dead Ash trees. The bigger pieces I’m making tables out of. But I have quite a few smaller pieces that would make great charcuterie boards that I thought would be cool with personalized stuff like this. I also have a bunch of limb cut offs from other limbs and the trunk that, hard to explain, but they have an oval shape from the piece they were cut off from, and a short stub on the back from the limb. So with a little trimming they will stand up like a picture frame. I think various sayings and hopefully pictures burned on them will be nice.going to take a little work to get them leveled up under the laser, but I think the outcome will be worth it. Thanks again for the great videos and explanations.

When you were showing the burn, I didn't see any air assist. Do you use aa, or just clean your boards off when you are done?
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dewey, I don't use air assist because most people don't have it. And while my shop is being remodeled, I'm working in the garage in a make shift environment. So without air assist, I use a box fan. It does basically the same thing. I mist the boards with water to let the soot stain the wood, then after a few hours, I come back with a paper towel and rub the board. It takes all the soot on top off. The soot will only stain the engraved part of the wood. Finally I seal them.
