Whether tape speed changed pitch on purpose or not (making it E or F), it's a good exercise to play it in F to skip the crutch of open strings going down the pentatonic. Well done sir!

After about 10 uploads you can extend your video time up to I think at least 40 mins just saying. You need to go into your settings or just do a search for video time extension on youtube and there will be a tutorial on how. Great song and thanks for the lesson.

@64moog1 Good question... I was trying to make it sound like the original recording. The original song on vinyl is in the key of F. My guess is that it was played in E and the recording speed was later increased enough to raise the pitch a half step. As with analog recordings, increasing the speed will speed up the tempo as well as change the pitch.

My SWAG is that it was recorded in E and the tape speed was increased to give it a more upbeat tempo. As is with analog tape, changing the speed will also change the pitch.

OK, below is a rough and basic way to show you. It is my tab for the Bad Seeds version of King Bee, from your profile page. As you can see, there are 6 letters, from E to E. if you think of the guitar neck, picture the letters above the 6 strings individually. It is only the low E string that has any numbers though, that means it is the only string you will play. The numbers are which number fret to put your finger. When you see a 0, it means you play an open string, ie, don't touch any fret.

I don't know if you're taking this from the version by Them, but I play this in E so most of the riff consists of hammers and pull-offs to the open string. Much simpler but perhaps not technically accurate to the recording.

Yes it would be easier for the beginner if he gave the fret and string instead of just the notes...But as any good instructor will tell you easy does not mean best way to learn...By giving the notes only he is forcing you to use your brain and learn the notes and placement of them..Bravo to him for doing it this way....

Yes it was Jimmy Page who played on the record and Billy Harrison had to teach him the part as the pedantic producer wouldn't let him play his own part on the session and insisted on using his pet session guitarist. Mind you Jimmy did play it pretty well .... but Billy came up with the part in the first place and played it pretty damned fine too. In those days very few bands were allowed to play on their own records and the house session guys did most of the cuts. Well done jbruce with the posts

Nice playing .... but why in F. The song was played in E and the recording sped up for radio. If you notice the track is actually a bit flat of F. I used to watch Billy Harrison play this song with Them back in Belfast and he played it in E. Much easier to play too.

Most importantly, learn how to read GUITAR TABLATURE. It is really simple, honest! There are six lines, each line represents a guitar string. On those lines will be a number, which represents the fret. so, if there is a 0 on the 6th string, 2 on the 5th, 2 on the 4th, 1 on the 3rd, 0 on the 2nd and 0 on the 1st, that is the chord of E. The Bad Seeds song on your profile would look something like this (very basic version). cont below...

This is fucking ridiculous! YT is such a nob! I spent ages trying to find a way to post this tab, which wouldn't get YT paranoid that a might be.... the horror.... writing in another web address! I had it looking really good but it wouldn't have it, so after 15 mins messing about with it, I finally found a way to do it.
