Hey Damian. I tried this lesson 7 years ago and really struggled with it. Then I bought your Ultimate Rockabilly Guitar DVD set, and after working through that for about threew or four years, I finally gained enough skills and knowledge to tackle this again. It came through surprisingly easy, and I have to owe that to all the lessons in the URG set. Have a great holiday season! (Special disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Damian or his products in any way beyond being a happy customer and student. These are just my honest comments on my personal experience. JRH

Billy Harrison said in an interview in Ugly Things magazine that he played the lead guitar on this and I believe him. In another interview, Van Morrison said Page's contribution was the sliding bass notes during the quiet part of the song. Great lesson by the way.

The only problem I have with Billy Harrison saying he was playing the licks is it sounds like Jimmy Page. It just has Page's feel all over it. None-the-less, great feel + great sound,= great lesson. My compliments to you. Best of luck.

Ted is seriously a great guitarist! People knock him because his political views and how outspoken he is. Smart people separate that. Put any of his licks songs or his playing against anyone he'll probably win. He can play it all. Look at his influences. He mastered them all. He's one of my favorites. EVH, Rory Gallagher, ACE, Ted. At one time he was THE GUITAR GOD! Great lesson, great song thank you.

Thanks that was interesting acd excellent. I am prob not typical of people who watched your video. I played bass when this track first came out by Them but didn't play for over 50 years. I only play in open stages and jam sessions and my problem had always been trying to learn the bass. I don't have a musical ear and nowadays I don't hear well. Where is this leading.... there are very few videos showing bass to this track And that is probably because the basic basis very simple. Actually nothing is simple to me, even a one bar blues😂 When i look at tabs I find several versions and i can't till which is right but to be honest I'm not really worried as long as I play something good and suitable. My question is, please, ....does the bass play E and F# through most of this track with a short descending ABAF# back down to E. I think that is what I played back in the day. Also do you have a lesson on the original or at least an early version in a slower blue style? For me, the original is Blues and this version is rhythm blues. I do what I can to learn the chord changes and timing to help base my bass notes?

I really love this sort of style of twangy dirty blues, but I don't know how to describe it or what subgenre it fits under. I want to learn more in the style but I don't really know what direction or resources to start with.
@Damianblf7 ай бұрын
It's a orginally a song by Muddy Waters, the father of Chicago Blues. Maybe his stuff is the direction you'd like to take? Thanks for watching the lesson. :)

@@Damianblf That is really helpful. THANK YOU!🙏 i just really love this clean, twangy, single note approach to early rock and roll / blues. Much like Mike Bloomfield's playing on Bob Dylan's highway 61 record

I've been playing this for years. I was using string bends but I'm changing to slide notes like you do...for instance the 3rd to 5th fret slide on the B string with the E string ringing open sounds much better. Thanks. By the way some bands record in different keys, listen to Chuck's Johnny B Goode; he plays it in A#.
