They’re swinging so nicely…so much to enjoy and, as a jazz musician, learn from🎶

As a trumpet player, and a young one at that, this man serves at a tremendous teacher. I can't say that I agree with all of his positions on music and jazz, and I've certainly spent a lot of time checking out Lester Bowie, Dave Douglas, late Miles, But Wynton helps remind the young musicians that there is power within. I love watching someone who knows exactly what they are playing and knows most importantly the music is not about them, but that they are merely a vessel. Mr. Marsalis thank you.

Thank you for that post. I agree that Wynton doesn't follow the same standards as other great jazz performers have followed in the past, but like you said, he knows not only how to play each note, but to improvise so well and still be able to keep the quintet on track. It amazes me that people like Mr. Marsalis can do this in not just one or two songs, but EVERY song he performs. Thanks again for that post.

Your right, he wasn't off beat, just Wynton, was pushing alternative chords and wanted to convey this. If you listen only, without the video, it stands out a mile.

Great accordion playing, I used to think a gentleman was someone who could play an accordion and didn't.

I was stunned by the saxophone solo at the beginning. Fantastic atmosphere. Why are you all turned in the pretty much the same direction during rehearsal ?

Could have coordinated a bit more with the camera operator/director. There's a right way of shooting jazz. And it has a history and a heritage...going back over sixty years.

Don't hear "Them There Eyes"! No song here. Just a lot of jazzing around.

Music stands? Seriously? No excuse for that on a tune like this.

NO excuse. Learn the tune by rote and perform it by memory. I'm not even one of these snotty jazz studies Wynton detractors (after all they all bury their heads in music stands too). No excuse.

and if you look at all the other Wynton videos on the right looks like he always has his band play with their heads buried in music stands.
