Millions of Italians fled Italy to escape poverty, I think it was between 1880 and 1914 . Thousand landed in Scotland and settled in Glasgow and other city’s . The much-maligned 'Scottish deep fried pizza' actually originates from the Italian immigrants, particularly from those from Naples who went on to run fish and chip shops. Pizza Napoli - deep fried.

Good morning from west Central Scotland, we have small communities in most parts here think a lot of them came over late 40s 50s. We actually had a small Coias cafe near where I stay, 1 of original family still living in family home they were famous for best ice cream, also I of the Coias used 2 present tv our STV here. Just one last comment from me is I hope you went to a butcher and got yourself some square sausage/Lorne sausage and potato scones. I have a few family members in London and when they come up to Glasgow they always have potato scones and lorne sausage packed along with Plain bread. So glad you enjoyed Glasgow👍

Glasgow is fabulous to visit,its full of character and not for boring types Yeah I thought of Paul Coia as soon as I heard it!!!! The Tennants murals were top and the advert was with Gary Holton and a bird called Charmaine..."its the taste that's making history....the brekkers looked fab and service was hassle free.....The Scots are nice and polite unlike here? Saw the sign to the "heed,mon da hoops!!!8

I was there last week, outstanding breakfast and service. Even the toast was fantastic. I had two poached eggs added instead of one fried, perfectly done. Best Breakfast I’ve had in the UK. It was only about £11 which included tea.

That looked really good, although no mushrooms? what's that all about? Next time I visit the Big Smoke I will have to visit and try that one out! Like you, I would also add some square slice, I would need to add mushrooms as well, no haggis either? if it had mushies and haggis I would give a 10, but as it was, without the square slice, I reckon 8/10, for the price, I want all the optional extras, I think there is an even better breakfast available in Garelochhead which I enjoy every Saturday. Just catching up on the Glasgow vlogs ,Must just have missed you out and about , A little info regarding Glasgow food ,Fish and Chips ,don’t bother ,wrong area of the country .I can get away with it as I was born there , Indian restaurants,now you’re talking ,Glasgow and the whole central belt has easily the best in the UK .Only area in England that comes close is North Yorkshire around Leeds Bradford area . Now for Coia’s ,That place is a bit special ,Atmosphere and food are outstanding ,For the first time our work has crossed over ,Those fridges in the deli I was never away from because the staff insisted on putting those boxes too close to the vents at the front and causing the lights to go off 😡😡😡😡😂😂😂 I wish you had met the owner ,He’s an absolute legend of hospitality and his expertise oozes over the whole business (looks like super Mario)😀 Very Italian . Paul Coia the first voice on Channel 4 is related to the family ,think he’s a cousin . As for the Italian influence in Glasgow ,It’s not just Glasgow ,Edinburgh has it too ,A lot came over in the 1920s ,They were masters of chip shops and ice cream and decided to make Scotland their home .Can’t remember the exact percentage but it’s very close to 100pc of the Italian immigrants came from only 2 villages . Ps You should have tried Tennents lager while in the city ,It gets a bad rep sometimes .But within Glasgow itself it’s superb ,Anymore than 10 miles out the city it can be pretty rank .

looked a nice breakfast however i have 3 issues with it..... issue 1 - why only half a slice of fried bread? did the other half fall off the plate somewhere? issue 2 - the grass cuttings sprinkled all over it, did they cook it whilst mowing the lawn? issue 3 - the bacon to me looked a little bit fatty, almost looked like a half grilled piss-flap. other than that it looked spot on :)

A pint of coffee in an Italian gaff, seems to be the best bit of it m8. Having said that being Glasgow it's usually Tennants Extra.Talking about extra, extra for a square sausage, that was a mini breakfast at a full breakfast price, you were robbed. It looked okay probably tasted great, but no way buddy that was not worth it. You said the service & ambiance was great, it would wanna be. Oh BTW it's a shame you went home without a Curry Vid, 'cos did you know your favourite chicken tikka masala was invented in Glasgow. Scores on the doors - 6/10 from me, Claire says 8/10

Quite surprised at such a high score considering there were several things you have been critical of on so many occasions ie beans served separately, fresh not tinned tomatoes and the dreaded cheap catering sausages. Whilst I accept service and ambiance contribute to a review and score surely the bulk of that score should be related to what's on the plate itself. As you yourself ask we can obviously only " score" based on looks and price to which end I would only go to 6.5.

Looks like they put some care into cooking the meal and have good chefs and staff. Unlike the bang it in the microwave chains with fed up staff on zero hours contracts (Sizzler, Hungry Horse..spoons etc) Controversial! lol This looks like proper cooked grub in a proper Cafe…a bit pricey though? 👍🏻 8/10

The Italian pow’s we’re allowed to stay after ww2 and were prominent in Ayrshire and the surrounding areas. Sadly a lot of the Italian community fell foul of a Scarlet Fever outbreak and a lot of people lost their lives. Prestwick and Muirkirk in Ayrshire had a large community of these people and there presence is still seen in the numerous ice cream parlours in the areas.

Dennistoun has been up cycling for years. A great area for a bite to eat. Italians came as prisoners of war. Made ice creme and married the girls. Glasgow kiss does exist but it’s not a dangerous city. Very friendly.

Talking about the see you Jimmy thing. One of my brothers hated the Dwarf character from The Hobbit Five Armies movie voiced ny Billy Connolly. Little history into this family owned business. A member of this family is called Paul Coia and he was a tv celebrity throughout the uk as well as doing radio work. He was the first voice to be heard on Channel 4 back in November 2nd 1982 to introduce Countdown to the viewers as Countdown was the first to be aired on Channel 4 . He married a former Miss England Debbie Greenwood. Look him up. That’s his family business you were in .

Lee that breakfast looks absolutely delicious I like that they don’t pre butter the toast, the breakfast itself looks very very delicious. The place itself look great looks clean and the staff seem to be very friendly, the waiter to the side of you having a laugh and joke with customers.
