I grew up a walk away from the original Harry Ramsdens. It was always busy & had serious queues every single weekend, people would happily queue for an hour or more in the rain. Chandeliers, uniformed staff, piano player, it was a special treat, upselling of the times! What a dismal franchise it all ended up as. 😢

My partner is from Norfolk and he says GY market is the best fish and chips anywhere. Beware of the seagulls though - they swoop down and steal them if you are not careful.

Best place for fish and chips is Finns chip shop in Ruthin North Wales very large piece of fish plus they even put another smaller piece of fish on top of the main portion, good portion of chips all cooked while you wait you will be pushed to actually fish eating it all as the portions are very large.

I went to a Harry 5:57 Ramsdens about 10 years ago in Blackpool. I had high expectations but was so disappointed I said I would never go again. But yours look a big improvement to the fish and chips I had.

On looks, I’d say an eight for the fish n chips. I agree with the vendors comment about not closing the lid as it steams the contents. I like the idea of no plastics, but the box still has to have a wax/anti leakage coating that not all recycling plants can deal with. Curry sauce DOES belong on the menu, it adds an extra taste to the food, it’s an individual choice as to whether you have it or not.

Looked bleak and cold up on Great Yarmouth seafront. I’ve not been to Harry Ramsdens for years and this branch in particular. Good on the traffic warden to waiver your parking ticket. Just down the road about two and a half miles is My Plaice fish & chips on Baker Street, (no not that Baker Street), in Gorleston On Sea. They are highly rated and award winning. Best of luck with your East West car challenge although I have already seen Geoff’s vlog so I know the outcome lol😄

Used to love Harry Ramsdens back in the early 90s mate. They were lovely back then. Not so much now, but i do echo your opinion and score. 6/10 i thought was fair. Definitely better around but also worse. On another note buddy, this video bought a bit of a tear to my eye. One of my closest mates passed away 3 months ago who lived in Great Yarmouth. His taxi driver who he'd use 2 or 3 times a week was Jason from Swift who was on your video towards the beginning that you said hello to. He always talked very highly of him so was lovely to see this. Thanks for sharing buddy🙂👍

Original shop opened in 1928 at Guisley Lee. It was a wooden hut and later the restaurant was built on the site. Ironically the restaurant is still there but now is a Wetherby Whaler (competition back in the day.

If you`re ever down here in Bournemouth Lee, don`t even think of doing Harry Ramsden by the pier, worst fish and chips we`ve ever had. They used to be very good, but then they became an American diner themed restaurant, and when we got our order, it was extremely disappointing. a small square piece of fish, with a small ramikin (and it WAS small, a desrt spoonfull) of mushy pea`s, and about 10 chips in one of those mid size canned vegetable cans. And it was bloody exspensive. we`ve never been back since.

That's not expensive, our local Take Away(I live near Norwich ) charges £17.50 for two large chips(that aint large) & four sausages in batter. I was a regular customer, but at those prices I don't think I will be anymore.

Not had a Harry Ramsden's since Bournemouth many many years ago. The name suggests great things but the actual food struggles to live up to the expectation. Still, I feel a 6/10 is possibly a little harsh. Put Russell's Fish & Chips in Broadway, Cotswolds on your bucket list. Decent food and an absolute dream location, especially in the summer. Have you tried the Coal fired fryers at the chippy in Upton just outside Gainsborough, Linc;s it only opens Friday 5.30pm - 9.00pm and Saturday's 11,00 am - 1.30 pm i believe, but got good reviews! Its on trip advisor! You will probably have to queue tho!

Parking charges in Great Yarmouth are disgusting. Not too bad if you can park on the road. £7 or £8 all day but you have to get there early to park cheaply although I wouldn’t think you would have that problem out of season.

The original Harry Ramsdens was in Guiseley in West Yorkshire. My Wife and I went to on in Yorkshire (eat in) after staying overnight in Harrogate in the 80's. We had just had a full English Breakfast and rolled up for 'lunch' at H.R. boy, were we stuffed. Quality and portion size great. Drive home to Stockton was not very comfortable at all. yours looked appetising, Fish looked tasty 7.5/10

I hate paying for parking, its so anti-business, it would drive me away from any sea front, £11.40 for up to three hours, what about 30 minute increments. Hats off to the parking guy, he gave you a break, that's got to be rare. The Fish n Chips looked worth the money, Id give it an 8.5, just for the Fish n Chips and Im not a fan of franchises, still Lee said they tasted good.

Good Evening Lee. Yes, Harry Ramsdens in Great Yarmouth. Very Lovely establishment, prices looked rather reasonable. I presume Good Customer Service. For the price, yes not to bad really. i would score these Fish and Chips with the Peas and Curry sauce, I will give them a 7/10. The most Polite and Courteous Traffic Officer 10++.
