Is it possible to rearrange the order of your voice memos? Not currently seeing a way to do that. It seems to me the order is fixed.

Dylan, thank you so much! You are a great teacher (and I like that you write poems to your wife-different video). 😊

I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying my videos. Any specific takeaways you’d like to share? And yes… Everyone should write poetry to their wives… Or husbands… Or best friends… Writing down how you feel is an amazing way to let people into your head.

I have been using voice memos for a while. I have learned even more by watching this video. Can you expound on using Voice Memos completely hands free? I have tried it using a Shortcut but it’s hit or miss from time to time. I have also tried it while using Voice Control. Just looking for a simpler hands free method. Thank you 🙏🏿
@TheMacWhisperer6 ай бұрын
There's two basic ways to do it... 1) Ask Siri to Start (or record) a voice memo. It will immediately begin recording. 2) If you have an iPhone 15 pro you can set up the action button to automatically start a voice memo (I know, not completely hands free... but close).

@@TheMacWhisperer How about stopping the recording (iPhone 14)?
@TheMacWhisperer6 ай бұрын
I think you will need to touch the phone for that.... or you can turn on Voice Control which can allow you to do ANYTHING handsfree. I have voice control set up as a shortcut when I click the side button 3 times.... but you can also have Siri turn it on. It's a powerful tool, so be careful!!!

Very good. What I want to do is use the voice memo as a transcriber by syncing with my secretary's I Mac. Then she can delete when finished with the memo. How do I sync this with iCloud?
@TheMacWhisperer7 ай бұрын
It's a little complicated since you won't want to log her iMac into your entire Apple ID. Better to share the memos with her and let her transcribe them. Also, there are several voice recording apps that will transcribe for you (I like iTranscrbe) saving you a step.

Great video…. How would you be able to edit and connect several together and export them outside the mac os - mp3 maybe ? Many can’t play mine if i send them
@TheMacWhisperer11 ай бұрын
It’s not something that I’ve had to do… But if you have a Mac, I would use GarageBand to collect the separate pieces together and then export it as an MP3 and you shouldn’t have any problem. Let me know how that works for you.
@TheMacWhisperer11 ай бұрын
Technically speaking you should even be able to use GarageBand from an iPhone or an iPad and do the same thing, but it would be easier on a computer for sure.

Hi, thank you for making the video. Is it possible to put the files in a different order, or is each file strictly in time date order? Thank you
@TheMacWhisperer11 ай бұрын
Unfortunately there’s no sorting options so it’s going to be in the date order… But you can always move the ones you’re looking for into separate folders to keep them organized. Not ideal… Maybe they’ll update it in the future.

Is it possible to rearrange recordings in a folder. Here's why I want to know. I have recorded my wife playing Christmas Carols on the piano (just the music). I've named them as I recorded them and have placed them all in a folder called "Christmas Carols". Now I will use this music with a group of friends and we will sing along, but I don't necessarily want to play them back in the order they were recorded which is how they are rendered in the voice memo app. Is there a simple way to reorder my recordings in my folder?
@TheMacWhisperer16 күн бұрын
Unfortunately the Voice Memo app has limited filing and organizational functions. I recommend downloading those recordings to your Files app or to your Finder, I’m putting them in a folder where you can organize them properly. Then you can play them at Will without having to go through the Voice Memo app itself which is a little clunky for what you’re trying to do, and can’t do an auto play where it goes from one song to the next like the finder and other functions (like the music app) can do.

Use Siri by saying "Siri take a voice memo" and she will open up the app and you can talk. I believe you still have to hit the stop button but this is easier than having to key in all the instructions. Have Siri do the work. If on an iPhone 15 you also can leave the action button for something else.

I found a better way to record voice memo's was to do it from the apple watch!
@TheMacWhisperer4 ай бұрын
For sure, doing voice memos on the watch is a great tool. My only issue is holding my arm up so the watch is in a good position to hear the voice memo properly… Instead of setting my phone on the table and using that or my computer. There's nothing wrong with using voice memos on the watch… but it doesn't have the same capabilities with editing or sharing easily. The watch screen is just too small… But it's great for capturing the audio.

You talk a lot about everything and very little about organizing the files which is why I clicked your video
@TheMacWhisperer28 күн бұрын
With voice memos, there are minimal organizational tools at the moment. The only thing you can really do is put them in folders, which I do talk about. But the title of the video is about how to get organized by using voice memos, not specifically how to organize the memos themselves since the only option you have is folders. Sorry if it was not what you were looking for.
@Ces91128 күн бұрын
Im trying to put folders inside main category folders but cant find a way , thank you
@TheMacWhisperer25 күн бұрын
Voice Memos does not allow nested folders. In other words, you can only have one main level of folders, not any subfolders. I hope they change that in the future, but for the time being, it's definitely limited.
