The "im not gonna sugarcoat it" thing's joke is that he busts out his serious big boy attack and the crowd is like DAAAAMN like "he really did it!" but it gets repeated while he spams the attack as if it's just as impressive the 7th time as it was the first time. The meme also covers the screen obscuring the move, as if you don't even need to see the game to know what move he's doing. The DAAAAMN becomes obnoxious after hearing it so many times which is a reference to how obnoxious it is to get hit by the move several times.

@Baby gimme Feet It's not really a punch line, more like a catch phrase. But as with catch phrases where they lose their luster after doing it several times, so does it when you spam the strong move. So it's more of a commentary on the move itself, expressed through an absurdist meme. Repeating the same catch phrase will become progressively more absurd the more times you say it, similar to how hitting someone with the same move becomes progressively more absurd. So it's not so much the phrase "I'm not gonna sugar coat it" that's funny, but rather it points out the absurdity of the the gameplay by exaggerating it. You could do the same thing by adding a BONK sound for every time someone gets hit by a low, for example, except "I'm not gonna sugar coat it" also implies it's a very strong move being performed by a certified tough guy.

The sugarcoat meme origin was a video of Kazuya doing a touch of death from ch df2, each EWGF and slaughter hook had the video cut to the sugarcoat image for a split second with a vine thud sound effect. The video was in 144p and the Kazuya was naked. The joke was the absolute absurdity of the video and the repetition of EWGF within it. Then people started making alternate versions of it, none as funny as the original

Alright I know this video is a month old but let me attempt to explain the "I'm not gonna sugarcoat it" meme, as it is suprisingly complex. If we analyze the meme we can break it down into two main distinct parts, the first one are the sound effects, and the second part is the image itself that flashes on the screen. But first, before we explore the sound effects we must first understand the concept of "postmodern" humor (yes, really). The main idea of "postmodern" humor, specifically is memes, is that of irony and the subversion of expectations, of taking what's no longer funny and "necromancing" it into humor once more. If we analyze the basic structure of a joke, we find ourselves with a setup and a punchline, most of the time, the humor comes by subverting expectations and surprising the spectator with something contextually unusual. The main concept behind "postmodern" humor is to turn that upside down by estabilishing that by knowing that they're hearing a joke, the spectator is subconsciously aware of the subversion of the punchline, and therefore, that is no longer subversive. To solve this, it proposes that instead of subverting, the joke teller must instead give the most obvious answer to the setup and, ironically, subverting the spectator's expectations. A classic example of this is the joke: "Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side!" It's funny because it isn't funny. Now back to the meme, the first part (the sound) consists of two main sound effects, a royalty-free dramatic "thud" sound effect, commonly known as "vine boom sound effect", and the sound of a clip from the movie Friday (1995) featuring popular sellout Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. Both of these clips were extremely popular in the early 10's internet, used in numerous memes and videos, however because of their popularity and the way memes usually circulate, their once humorous association turned "overused" and "unfunny", what was once funny became unfunny. From that, and taking context into account, we can conclude that the usage of the sound effects is that of ironic nature, taking dead memes and raising them from the dead to become funny again, specifically because they're no longer funny. Now onto the second part (we're almost there I promise). This has multiple interpretations. The first is that the image takes on a more common joke structure, it is merely contrasting the serious, threatening phrase "I'm not gonna sugarcoat it" with the simple, innoffensive action of pressing a button in a videogame, subverting your expectation in a traditional joke manner. Another interpretation is that the image is a parody of edgy internet posts, this is supported by things like the font, the serious picture of a character (Kazuya, in the case of the original), and the background. A more fringe interpretation is that the meme attempts to satirize individuals commonly referred to as "tryhards", basically saying: "They present themselves in such serious fashion yet all they're doing is pressing buttons", though this last one seems the most unlikely. I hope this assisted your comprehension of the meme in question and also helps you interpret other "zoomer jokes" you might find in the future.

Can you handle this?" It probably comes from people saying "I'm not gonna sugercoat it, [insert edgy opinion here]" similar to the crowd that says "I care about facts over feelings" or like "sorry Christians, your God isn't real". Except in this case the meme is, instead of some hot take, it's literally just a bunch of EWGFs. As if the move itself is supposed to make a statement.

The whole "Im not going to sugar coat it" is basically saying "I'm a beast at this game, so Im going to stunt on your ass with no mercy". They flash it everytime kazuya electrics because its a hard ass input to do consistently. Pretty much the meme is for whenever you punish your opponent with something thats really hard to do that fucks them up hard
