Man this is such an interesting topic…I was raised by a single mother, which makes me question who influenced the qualities that I looked for in a husband🤔 because I did not have a father figure

Interesting!! Also raised by a single mom.... But there was a cousin very present, and i know that i really wanted certain parts of him in a man
@tshepocindi59993 жыл бұрын
My take to this would be Attachment Theory would still cover influence of someone,who shaped your character,thinking be a Teacher,Preacher Parents of Freinds/Relatives No person immune from any influence of any kind.It would be like like this i cant be a Good Parent because i have never been parented all my life,which would not be True as Parenting comes in various forms those areas in people we admire and practice and would like to adopt are our Parenting style and we look forward to those traits and resonates now and then in our partner e.g you sound like my husband/Wife when you say....or ...do.. that.... and that........I was traveling in Bus ..to JHB a Lady sad you are just like my Son in every way possible and released after we parted on our conversation she kept on calling me Loeto every time we laugh together or she emphasize something.
@hluvukanicindy23853 жыл бұрын
Shoooo this topic is one I strongly resonate with. I was raised by a single mom but she showed up like I had two parents, even when I was in a varsity in a different city she used to fix my problems immediately with no hassles... if I encountered a problem I just knew my mom would fix it in a blink of an eye as a result I struggle being with a partner that cannot solve problems...I get frustrated because my point of reference is always " my mom would do this simple" I want someone who makes my life easy. Nice video thoroughly enjoyed it... I love how Lerato says we deal with the parts we reject through grace.

Great video. I’m always learning more about how to have a successful marriage. Video Ideas: 1) Tips on raising children as a couple 2) How to work through conflict in marriage? 3) How does love change over time?
@Muhle643 жыл бұрын
I totally relate with the part about being an emotionally sensitive child and those needs not being catered to. I’ve had to REALLY toughen up and now find it difficult to empathise with overly sensitive people especially at work. I didn’t get why that is but what Lerato said makes sense to why I always expect those around me to dust themselves off (almost immediately).

Hey guys! I'm a new sub. Just came across your channel 2 nights ago and I'm in love with your content. I watched 5 or 6 videos back to back, and I've NEVER EVER done that with any channel. You guys are it man. I truely love your christian based channel content on love and marriage. It's much needed for us christians, esp young christians. And seeing a young, beautiful, black, african christian couple having such content is off the wall AMAZING! I especially loved the two sessions with Loreto's parents about how marriages end in divorce. It was filled with so many wisdom points, I literally had to write them down in my journal. Please thank you parents for me. You guys are so blessed to have such godly and wise parents with experience in counseling married couples. My only suggestion is to please do more English captions on translations when you switch to speaking your mother tongue so other none speakers don't miss out on what you are saying coz we want to hear and understand EVERYTHING. I'm so blessed whenever I hear you guys be real and share your experiences of both your struggles and triumphs and more so in just seeing the Christ centered love you have for each other, and showing us that it is indeed possible to have a happy and healthy marriage if you have Christ at the center of your personal lives and your marriage. Y'all are amazing, and keep pointing others to Jesus by just leaving your lives. With much love and tremendous gratitude from Taonga all the way from the East Coast of USA via Zambia.

I think there are ways to develop resilience in children through things like sports. I also think teaching kids process and allowing them to go through it without trying to save them is another way they can learn. This is so that though they maybe sheltered they still learn to overcome, to be fearless and all those things. It’s really an interesting one Pheto. Maybe a parenting video would be interesting too. I noticed with your daughter, she is quite confident and bold. The way she lead you guys in that last video was quite astounding. She handled the responsibility so well and when you guys took off the blindfold she understand the shift in power. This is so interesting.

This is such a thought provoking and absolutely necessary discussion to have with yourself and your partner. That statement “You marry the emotional image of your caregiver, both positive and negative” - it challenged me to look at myself again with a view to see and understand who my partner is married to. It’s soo easy to identify and acknowledge the “positive traits of our caregivers” in us but maybe not so much the negative traits. Often times we camouflage them or call them something different that makes it sit better with us, and you honestly can’t change or improve something that you don’t know - truly know. I love your conversations ❤️.

Well when I met my husband the first thing he said to me was that he wanted a woman like his mother. At that I was given up about finding a good man. I did not take him seriously because the bad experience I had with men , so I thought he was one of those men. On my side I have been going out with those men who were like my father that is why my relationship didn’t last. I decided to date men who are different from my father and I found what I was looking for through my husband.

My boyfriend is very very very similar to my father. It was Mrs Mak saying her dad was very organized and kept all their reports. My father is an archive. He has every single report dating back from pre-school all the way through. He always also allowed me the freedom to be myself a hundred and ten percent. He's one of the few people In the world I think just get me and know me through and through. wow, I would like another session of this topic and please read Winnicot's book called the good enough mother. It says a lot about how children's personality develop between the ages of 1-3 years and the consistency and inconsistency of the caregiver plays a role in how the child develops till they are adults. So yes we date people who share the same traits as our parents.
