Remember, this is for NY State. Not necessarily representative of the US as a whole. MOST other states do not have such strong policies, Or if they do, don't enforce them. If they DO enforce them, they are one state legislative vote away from having it defunded!!
@Novous9 жыл бұрын
Prisoners, the elderly in homes, the mentality disabled, dogs, basically anyone who can't defend themselves is thrown away, abused, exploited, and profited on. And the most messed up part is people think it's okay. "That cop shot the dog, but the dog was PROBABLY aggressive." "That guy got raped but he PROBABLY deserved it."

They show us the men’s version at the county jail I was at because it had a high number of sexual assaults . Scary never ever again the intake process was the worst and most scariest experience I’ve ever had . They take everything from you but your shoes , you have shower with this 3 in 1 shampoo that has this strong smell . Lights come on at 3 am and breakfast is at 7 am by 8:30 you’re going to court or going about your day . First two meals are cold and dinner is hot . It’s not like tv it’s much worse it smells of body fluids , sweat . No one showers nude everyone showers in their underwear only New inmates do and those are the ones who get target and get taken advantage of . If anyone ever gets locked up no one in there is your friend and nothing in there is free .

I can’t imagine a scenario in which I would end up imprisoned, but it’s a relief for me that I’m a woman and I would end up in a women’s prison. I’ve watched documentaries about women’s prisons and it seems that most of the drama surrounding relationships between inmates is not of the non-consensual kind but instead it’s exactly what it’s like when women have relationships with other women outside of prison. Jealousy, cheating, freaking out when your girlfriend is going to be released before you are and trying to spoil her release date, stuff like that. I’m not straight - and still there’s no chance I would end up with a prison girlfriend. For the men in prison sex seems more overtly violent, but women can do just as much damage even if the relationship is consensual and maybe even passionate or loving.

It’s terrible in Arizona (lookin at you MARICOPA). It’s terrible in Georgia. It’s terrible everywhere. Prison is prison. LA has a prison facing a HARROWING suit rn for rampant abuse of female inmates by staff. Another prison somewhere *gave keys to the male inmates* who TERRORIZED the women. And just like the Catholics, the Baptists, the Army…. The system tends to shuffle the perpetrators to a different facility rather than eliminate and prosecute them. So, it becomes, and stays terrible everywhere until we demand rights and safety for inmates.

you’re not gonna prevent any type of assault in prison a lot of inmates are violent offenders and killers and it’s bound to happen at some point someone might have a bad day and are faced with a long prison sentence and you might be in for something minor like stealing or other minor offenses and just happened to be there anything can pop off the only way you don’t get attacked in prison is if you’re invisible which is highly unlikely
