@Themrantonon18 If you're talking about Ikey, we don't know exactly, he just wasn't called up after the 2009 dates. Lars will probably still perform with them. And Paul and Adrian were asked to leave due to downsizing/direction change, which was no problem.

Sweet, I'm on the right track. I've worked in the food industry, hell, most of my band has! And we've played in front of 5 people for a month! And now we have good shows! Holy shit, this is gonna work! :D

Shows with five people in the audience are the best shows.

@andilaine He means you have to do shitty jobs/gigs for you to truly appreciate it when you finally make it big. He used food industry work as an example, someone might work at a fast-food place and hate it, then later get a great job they love, but they wouldn't have valued the good job as much if they didn't have the bad one first. Before his success playing shows around the world for thousands of people, he'd play small shows for like 5 people & he's very grateful because of that experience.

God damn, it's amazing to me that everyone is so confused by this. YOU LISTEN TO THE MARS VOLTA. This, of all things that come out of his mouth, should not be confusing....
@TehMadCow12 жыл бұрын
@andilaine That would be awesome. They could call it The Mars Voltage, cuz it amps you up with electrifying energy~

He said " 'like' the food industry", key word is "like". Meaning coming up in the music scene is like coming up in the food industry. You have to eat a lot of shit and gradually sell your product to nobody 'til you work it hard enough to where you're selling your product to an audience. It's really as simple as that.

@andilaine Cedric was a waiter at some dinner, i for got which one, Carrows I think it. Well, anyway, he has said before that by working full time at a restaurant and getting treated like shit by the same people (mostly jocks from school) who would go see him sing in At The Drive-In made him stronger as a person, it built character and discipline. I'm guessing that is what he meant here...
@Gouki060612 жыл бұрын
holy shit that was my question hahaha, well i think i know what he means...and what im guessing by food industry is fast food restuarants.
@mitchki12 жыл бұрын
How are people confused by him dropping the word "food industry"? Maybe all those people haven't ever worked in a service job (serving customers directly) because if they HAD then they would have understood immediately that he's just saying you SHOULD take shitty jobs at the start of any career. And that everyone should work a food industry job for at least a while to appreciate how shitty is it getting shit on (but that's my own opinion right there, not cedric's)

@TehMadCow For moment I thought maybe The Mars Volta was going to start selling their own line of energy bars ... or something. Just for a moment, though. ;)

I think he was using food industry as a metaphor that it will be bad before it is good & don't try the fish.
@harleen666 OK, it would make more sense if he was drawing from personal experience, then. Because really, it's that way for any career path. It was the specification of the the "food industry" that threw me for a loop. :)

Being ignorantly but deliberately sarcastic, like lateralusman, people, is not funny. Don't do that shit. You just make yourself look bad. At least... I hope he was being sarcastic, I hope he didn't fail to understand what was being said.
