Walked into my local kroger in Lexington Kentucky last week when they got there delivery. I was able to get a bottle of George t Stagg for $149 and an eagle rare 17 for $149. Went to the kroger pappy raffle last night, and I was called this morning and told I won a pappy 15 went and picked it up for $200 this morning… if you could post pics, I’d post the receipts. I couldn’t be more happy or excited. Cheers

🙂Yes, Florality is a word and you used it properly. It is usually used in wine tasting, as it speaks to the floral sents in the drink. Great review!!

Got really lucky with a chance to try the Birthday Bourbon, Handy, and Stagg recently, all side by side. Birthday bourbon's good but just not at the BTAC level. Stagg, there's a certain smell when shucking corn in the summer and that note comes through (to me) with the oak, along with the other flavors. It's one of those unique memory triggers that's always fun with whiskey. Such an easy pour for the ABV, too. 136 proof is almost hard to believe. The Handy, so good. Always a hint of like saffron on its nose and honey comb, waffle on the taste/finish with the traditional baking spice. Hmmm. Lucky year.

I had a pour of the 23 KOK a couple weeks ago in Bardstown. While it was a very good, for me the GTS has way more flavor throughout the palette and more to my liking. 24 GTS over 23 KOK.

He did just doesn’t say how much it cost him. I’m certainly not paying over MSRP for them and in my state that is possible highly unlikely but possible. But really not something I’m looking for. Had a pour of the 23 GTS and yes it was very good.

Usually I can get a pour of each in a bar. Totally get the hype of these. People can say they aren’t worth the secondary which is true. But at the same time there’s always undue hate for that same reason. But there’s a reason they go for crazy prices. Year in, year out, always some of the best whiskey I’ve ever tasted no exceptions.

Great review, Jason. Looks like Smokeye Hill might have motivated Buffalo Trace to improve on GTS compared to last year 😉 Seriously though, both GTS & WLW sound good. Will make the end-of-year lists most interesting!
