In Exercise 18 question 3, why is the infinitive "to love" spelled לְאַהְַבָה rather than לְאֲהֹב? If it's because the guttural he prefers an a-class vowel, why then doesn't it just go לְאֲהַב? Why does it add a whole extra syllable on the end? Are there other infinitives with completely different vowel patterns that end in "-ah" at the end?

I know it is 3 years later, but maybe people still will profit from an answer... He said in the last lecture that the "-ah" ending is paragogic and that it is not quite known why it is used, so we can ignore it. It probably once was used for emphasis or something like it.
