My answer is normally that the Packers are the best run org in the NFL. Because Coaches and QBs can be switched out and they are still strong contendors. But the fact that they didnt win more than one SB for each Favre and Rodgers kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Texas fan, We had higher expectations than another loss in the semis but Quinn had to play through injuries all year which really changed his footwork & pocket mobility when pickets collapsed and he also had to deal with the whole country wanting him to fail so we could see a guy who's already getting projected as a #1 Overall pick. I hate how it ended for the horns but Quinn especially but I think in the long term he would be great for a team at the top of the draft with a decent foundation on offense that could benefit from taking an OT and trading back in to the mid-late 1st round slot for a team like Denver or LAC that might prefer to load up on picks to get more weapons for their Offense & their qst choice is off the boards

Stewart's criticism over college numbers are similar to what people had to say about chop robinson. High pressure and win rates seem to carry over and turn into solid nfl production.

Not even close to the same Robinson was way more productive. Chop actually had pass rush moves Stewart is bull rush only

I don't know if Todd reads these, but I would be really curious to know if Jabar Muhammed hurt his draft stock but transferring to Oregon? HE looked so good at Washington but he was never going to get any taller. But I think Ohio State really exposed the height shortcoming, because he was just dwarfed by Tate and Smith, even Egkuba was several inches taller, and he just couldn't make up the difference.

I disagree with Mench on Ewers, a lot of teams don't have him in their 100 and they're absolutely right. I think Mench has a very old school view of QB where it's like, can he make anticipation throws? Yes? Ok, automatically a top guy. That view is severely outdated. The modern QB is a lot more than that. A while ago, a Texas commentator tried to think of an NFL comp for Ewers. He couldn't think of one. This brand of QB who is such an utter and absolute damsel in distress in the pocket every play simply does not exist in the NFL anymore. I don't want to belabor the point but your Conference Championship QBs. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Jayden Daniels, Jalen Hurts. Not only is he not a run threat, so there's no possibility of running the read option game or adding levels of complexity to the run game, which is why Texas struggled to run the ball, he has some of the worst in class movement in the pocket in terms of pressure to sack rate. Some of your divisional round QBs, Stafford, Goff, they struggle at running offensively, but they are very elusive in the pocket. Ewers is a sitting duck. He constantly self-sacks. If there is a defenseman within 5 yards of him, the play is over. The only statistically comparable college QB in terms of P2S graphed against time to throw was Kurtis Rourke. Who was playing with a torn ACL. And his throwing under pressure is statistically also below average. As a result, he puts his offensive line in a horrible position. If you try to run, there's no misdirection because you've only got one possible runner. If you try to pass, heaven forbid there's a defensive lineman in the general vicinity, he's going down or throwing the ball somewhere unhelpful. Ewers is, at the very best, a backup in the league. And honestly, I think he's closer to a practice squad guy right now. He had a great system with Sark where everything was a quick, short throw, yards after catch, make the occasional longer throw to keep defenses honest. But he's the new "good college quarterback." The pro game is changing. For years it was reversed, a dual threat guy would be the "good college quarterback" but if you want a pro career you be a pocket passer. Some people are resistant to it, but increasingly we're seeing what used to be ridiculed as "college concepts" that wouldn't work in the pros, like the RPO game, suddenly become incredibly successful, both in QB rushing but even opening up rushing for runningbacks. It shouldn't be lost on anyone that your top runningbacks, Barkley and Henry, line up next to Lamar and Jalen Hurts. In Jaxson Dart, you don't have Lamar, or Jalen Hurts, or Jayden Daniels, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes. But you have at least a Bo Nix level of athleticism guy who can be somewhat evasive in the pocket and pick up some rushing yards with his legs and run some RPO concepts. With Ewers, those aspects of his game simply do not exist. He's not escaping the pocket, if someone is in the area the play is dead. He's not running read option. He also gets injured every time he gets hit hard, and he gets hit hard a lot because he's a sitting duck. He didn't play in the senior bowl, due to injury. He's gotten injured and missed games every year. So how you expect him to stay healthy enough to justify a top 3 round pick... I love Ewers. I think he has a good future in coaching.

You talked about QBs who go high in the second. Reminder that would have been Lamar Jackson had the Ravens not traded up to the last pick of the first round in '18, fifth QB off the board that year. You can find talent there. But the Tom Brady mid-round picks are pipedreams.
@junehanzawa51656 күн бұрын
A lot of their conversation sound just like bad GM's talking themselves into a player. And they're doing for so, so, so many players. If you need to talk yourself into a player, that's your first sign that you should not take him. But more importantly, it's also a sign that you need to get better at evaluating. And keep in mind that on average, there's only between 5 to 7 really good to great GM's, and always less than 10 at any given year in the entire history of the NFL. That's why you see a group of 5 to 7 teams win most championships in NFL history. And by that I mean only those that have won 3 or 4 or more championships in their history. To be one of the best, you need to know which players will be busts, or even just disappointments in the long wrong, as much as which ones will be good to great, if not more so.
