Also fun fact John Carpenter played MGS2 when it first came out and praised it greatly saying "Snake has returned to New York."

Which is fitting because, the Metal Gear franchise is basically a depiction of the possible hardships men of action will endure when humanity ventures into the world of militarized mecha. The first real battles of men vs machines. I'm surprised no one talks about this more.

@twinkiissb8 ай бұрын
@@nitothequito Let's look at some of the other remixes. Megaman 2 theme remix is a solid example of a hit remix. It uses the similar 8 bit lead synth as the original but is complimented with the guitar, drums and other instruments and they hit the mark. I've heard remixes on the megaman 2 and some hit and some don't. Back to solid snake, It's not terrible so I was a bit harsh on saying that. However, it doesn't hit the same way as the original on some marks like the lead synth and the last transition in the original. The remix itself is well constructed and has its own unique set of instruments and in some ways sounds cool. However that being said, those choice of instrumentals miss that nostalgic feeling that original gives. The original had a slightly different tone to it that just makes you feel engaged into the song even if the choice of instruments are simpler. Each to the own though. Some might like this remix over the original and some may just prefer the original. So different cup of tea for everyone. Here is another example of the solid snake of another decent remix. In some parts like the beginning is good, middle better and the ending they did a solid (no pun intended) job at the choice of instrument. It hits, it's not overly spaced but you feel the soul in that. However, again I prefer the original. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3KbqpWHe5pqpMksi=YR-BcF3LEjd3anb4

@@maxsteelflex Yeah there's definitely more demand to remake the original 2 than MGS1 from fans. I do think though from a gameplay perspective MGS1 actually is more in need or a remake though. It's gameplay hasn't aged anywhere near as well as MG2's imo.

@@PerpetualAlfa Mgs1 needs a gameplay update over mg2? Think you might wanna replay them again *scratching my head*. Mgs (ps1) gameplay aged well, for it even matured the fundamentals of the msx titles. Mg2 solid snake needs that treatment. But if you say so, I'm curious as to how?
@PerpetualAlfa Жыл бұрын
@@maxsteelflex I think gameplay perspective MGS1 suffers from the camera being panned in too close that you can really see what's going on around you. This wouldn't have been so bad but the transition to first person view is really sluggish that you end up looking at the soliton radar for the most part. With MG2 you can see everything on screen, so you're focus is on the environment and enemies themselves. Another issue with MGS1 is the backtracking. Now this is present in MG2 but it's no where near as tedious, partly because of the variety of environments and amount of newly unlocked areas to explore. MGS1's backtracking is not fun and feels like a chore, whenever replaying it,, But it was done to make more use of those early areas where there's more stealth gameplay to enjoy. Which brings to the next point. MGS1 about half way through becomes a gauntlet of set pieces and boss battles. There's very few areas of traditional stealth from that point on. That's not necessarily a criticism if that's what someone prefers, but MG2 had most those set pieces too (Hind D battle, being ambushed in an elevator by 4 guards, a fist fight with Gray Fox, being chased by guards up a spiral staircase, warming/cooling a key, etc) but they were spaced out with normal stealth gameplay.

Actually, you're both wrong; the basis for Snake's design originally came from Michael Biehn's role as Kyle Reese from "the Terminator". the basis for Metal Gear's gameplay came from various movies, as well as Kojima's desire to change the way games are played so that there would be a better variety. @Clavsicus the bandana is from Rambo. Definately! Also Snake in the Tranciever from the MSX version looks like Stallone. But in MG2 he looks like Mel Gibson.

@MrLunitunz Snake Plissken from Escape From New york, whom SOlid Snake is based on, is actually based on a real life prisoner whose name was Snak Plissken and The Man With No Name from Sergio Leone's westerns, who was portrayed by Clint Eastwood.

No it doesn't. It's a perfectly fine game not to mention that Metal Gear Solid already reuses a lot of the plot points from MG2.
