How can you do a review but miss out the battery life? 🙄
@RacquetClubSays7 жыл бұрын
Hi James, when we were testing out the action camera we found the battery varied depending what video settings you put in. 4k Was around 45 minutes whereas 1080p at 24fps was over an hour.

We're going to add this info to the description above and we've pinned your comment to the top so hopefully others can see the info! Thanks for the heads up, we'll do our best to remember that next time :D

PhotoBite UK good work! Another key thing is mounting, if it’s an action camera then this is a key thing that’d be good to review. Not sure if you mentioned that or if they do mounts etc. I’ve just bought the Sony x3000. This was a close contender but the battery life and mounting options won it for the Sony. I blame you! ;-)

Haha oh gawd... maybe Sony owe us commission then! I don't actually have the notes for the specs with me as it was Tom (presenter) who tested the unit, however you are quite correct that mounting is very important for action cams. I'll up date this description as and when I have the info and will absolutely make sure its at the forefront of all action cam reviews from now on. A big thanks for the pointers, we can only get better if we listen to the people watching the videos ;)

I have one and I use it primarily when I’m scuba diving. The built in light works great when illuminating coral and marine life. It’s not a great camera for stills, but it’s a very rugged action camera. The slow motion and time lapse features are nice. The camera is rated for 30 metres when diving, but I’ve gone a little past that and have had no leaks.

Very nicely done video. Lots of useful information, details demonstrated on the product itself, sample video from the product, and all in less than 5 minutes.

I want to mount the Olympus to my dslr.. Record with the Olympus while taking pics with the dslr. Since there no zoom on the Olympus would it be worth getting for what I want. I stand in center field for softball games to record the batters face on.. Will it reach that far and if not are there accessories I can buy to make that happen?

This is a nice review. I use this camera on my channel. I also did a review, but I feel you got better underwater footage than me. Gave your video a like.

I'm curious if I get any response for this as it is dated 2017, but I too like this mighty lil cam. My question is, what setting and lens combination gives the most narrow less fisheye pov?
@RacquetClubSays5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. Unfortunately we no longer have the test unit here to test this out. We'd also be interested so if any other viewers can share their experience, that would be great!

I guess it doesn't support external microphones? Built-in mic seems pretty decent though.

The very obvious downside of a camera shaped like the above, is that it's very awkward to mount given where the lens is. It should ideally sit flush to the body, not be at right angles. You attach it to your body and collide with something...................
@RacquetClubSays6 жыл бұрын
CrossChannelFairy perhaps, but it is very small and capable for the price and size.
@Only_Fools_and_Audits6 жыл бұрын
I agree, but its functionality is compromised by such a design flaw. I bought mine recently from Jessops due to the low price, however, I was instantly struck by the mounting limitations on the human body.
@RacquetClubSays6 жыл бұрын
Have you tried all options for mounting?
@Only_Fools_and_Audits6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure there are some I haven't even considered, but it isn't something that you can clip anywhere like a shirt pocket. I just find that it isn't very practical due to the nature of the bit that lets the light in being at the end of a rectangle.
@RacquetClubSays6 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, but I guess you could argue, (and for the sake of playing devil's advocate) it is the shape of more traditional camcorders, only A LOT smaller. If you were to compare it to more modern 'action' cameras, then I do see your point - and as it's billing itself as a 'tough' movie camera, then perhaps the form factor could be an issue. We like it, though, and hope Olympus keep them coming!

JUST got one. i am dissapointed. i dont like the fish eye effect. i should have trusted my instinct when i read many review.
@RacquetClubSays7 жыл бұрын
seacare amara that's such a shame. We've been impressed with the overall function, features and form. Hopefully with further use, you'll start to enjoy it more.

if you put the video settings on underwater (or the image of the fish), then turn on the Image Stabilization (IS), things looked much better.
