Drum brakes are complicated enough without the concern that the last guy reassembled things backwards. Those ball joints were amazing.

Check the reservoir, it's only attached with clips. Drain, easily remove, clean, new O-ring. Also check power booster for fluid, vacuum leaks can cause lean code, spongy pedal. *"OLD"* cars?

That drum gauge is already set to 1/32 or 1 mm difference So you measure the drum and then set the shoe so its just touching the tool Maybe the ABS needs to be bleed if it has it. Or the new master wasn't bleed properly when installed

Thanks for the info! Didn't know that. I've tried bleeding the abs already. I have so many hours invested in it and I still can't get a decent pedal. Initially there was like black sludge coming out the proportioning valve/ ABS unit . I wonder if the ABS is bad... my next video will be trying to get the knees to work with no success.

I checked the comments to see if anyone mentioned, I did not so if I am stepping on toes, I am sorry. I wanted to mention that your master cylinder looked fairly new. I imagine someone replaced it, and did not bench bleed it before installation. Hope it helps, and appreciate the videos sir.

I installed a new master and tried to bench bleed. It didn't make a difference. I still can't get the brakes to work on this thing

@@themechanic6117 that’s what I get for not waiting until the end. Lol. Glad to see you had the same thought process. I realize you are operating in the future from the videos, and my impatience gets the best of me. Only other thing I could think of that would make since then would be a pressure bleed. Good way to chase air out of a system or help find the weak point, like the brake hoses you pointed out that may be ballooning.

At this point I've replaced the master and both front brake Hoses. After hours of bleeding the pedal still goes to the floor . I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Initially I was getting black sludge out the abs module but now it's pure brake fluid. Everywhere I bleed at I now get pure fluid, no air. The brakes still don't work..... either I have to pull the master off again to bench bleed or the ABS module is bad..

@@themechanic6117 you maybe correct sir. ABS modulators can be holding trapped air as well, but it was fairly uncommon. But in TX we do not see your rust and corrosion much as well, so may just anecdotal. If you have the style I am thinking about these should have a bleed valve you can use to pull air from on the modulator valve itself, or if you can get your hand on an old Tech2, you can do an ABS assisted bleed sequence.

There is a bleed valve on the module and I've tried that with no success. My scanner has the function to bleed the air out the abs module, I've tried it many times with no success. I'm all out of ideas

Calipers frozen? Why were those rear lines unclipped? PO chasing down a leak?

The calipers are not frozen. I checked them, they move just fine. I believe that line was replaced and just never done correctly

This is a out dated suspension setup, I don't get many car/trucks like this in my shop. Doesn't really matter if I know the terms or names. I try to remember them but I'm not loosing sleep over it . 😄

👍🏿 versa cvt still going 185,000.. excursion v10 possible knock..Im good rebuilding the engine /trans.. still 1/2 the cost of a new car.. but may just sell it cheap.. wanted to keep it though.. wanted to get opinions but the wife blocks as always 🤣 pay for a diagnosis? No way jose😡🤣🤣
