I will explain how this Electrician from Barnoldswick ended up in this role in the USA and how it helped pay for the renovations on the house.

Just retired (very early, thank god) as a SLT member in a global comms company U.K. based. We just don’t send people travelling around the country like this anymore. Even before the pandemic I had to have a very good justification for travel if the meeting could potentially be done on line. You didn’t seem to be enjoying the experience so would you rather do it all on line? What is your employers reasoning for all that time and expense?

It’s mainly done online but I prefer to see people in person at least once a qtr to get a feel for what’s happening in the office. Cheaper for one to travel then have them all come to me

Interesting stuff. Reminds me of Minnesota where we are currently living. Seems you worked hard throughout your life. Know when to stop or ease back. Life is too short. I'm 56 and sort of semi retired. Worked long hours as a CSI in the UK for many years. Now drive a school bus. Meet some great people, including the kids and teachers, and see some wonderful places, especially during school excursions. We are fortunate to own homes in Pennsylvania and Virginia so doing OK.😊

What an interesting and honest blog. Good luck for the future I can tell how happy Max is over you not travelling as much. My hubby is an IT field engineer covering most of the UK and although he doesn't fly he will often have a long drive and has been in more hotels than most will stay in in a lifetime. I do miss him but he enjoys his job and its rarely for more than one or two nights every 2-3 weeks. Although you can keep in touch it is always nice when he is home. Earlier this week after being away for 2 nights on London he was driving home and as I work close to the motorway junction when he came back he parked up on my works car park just to be able to say hello when I came out of work that little bit sooner what a sweetie. You and Max seem to have a great realationship, but I get her joy at getting you (I assume) home more often.

I've often wondered what you did and i still have no clue except that you were very good at it, were since you have retired. which is more than we deserve to know about your personal life so thank you for that! i haven't flown since 1992 i was 18 and headed to a competition from AL to Los Angeles there were 2 earthquake after shocks after the plane took off and then the riots started and then they drug that Denney guy out of his truck like half a mile from my hotel. lol the thing that made the the maddest was that i ended up staying in my hotel room and so i watched tv and the only thing on was 5 channels of the riots and one channel of the Talladega 500 which is the next county over from where i live and we hate it as it brings in drunk crowds of people so i was 2000 miles away and that was my only option for tv! i just had to share that idk y! hahaha

We are dual citizens, so we have both pasports. Yeah, I'm not sure filming the op would be allowed unless the cast of Cauality are involved :-)

⁠@@ThemeParkBazza I thought so, make moving around so much easier, as for casualty, I worked with 2 nurses who were their nurse advisors. But not for me, too much standing around. As for theatre the da Vinci robots would make an excellent vlog as each one costs over 1 million, these I’ve been involved with in Oxford Reading and Stoke on Trent, I too travel around 40,000 miles a year up and down the country so know what you went through, but it has worked out for you and Maxine brilliantly, as I would love to live in Orlando, too old now for work but retirement would be a dream there.
