Im going to this park in fall 2026. This has the potential to be the best theme park in Orlando and maybe the world. My favorite theme park currently is Islands Of Adventure.

In my opinion, I feel Epic Universe is being over-hyped. I know it will be a great theme park, but hearing phrases like “best theme park in the world” or “most unique attraction in the world” is a lot to live up to. When guests first visit, I hope they are not disappointed because of the ultra high expectations the theme park community has built for the park.
@darkridedan1Ай бұрын
It’s not even the theme park community. We know better. It’s the teenage coaster enthusiast community whose obsession with Cedar Point, their home park’s latest coaster and thigh gap make the rest of us look level headed. They don’t know that hype is manufactured. Quality comes from the experience.

I love how WDWNT mentions in a two-hour podcast that Epic will not be the best theme park in the world...not in a million years, or how exposed steel coasters exist in Cedar Point.

Universal has been consistent in saying they will not sell single day tickets for the first few years ... so if you're good with that time table, awesome, if not, the low end annual pass isn't that pricey.
@metallicnole4514Ай бұрын
@@mattkarls That's a terrible business model if they do that for over a year. That's the type of move that would outrage people if disney did something like that. I refuse to pay for a multiday ticket and I don't go to universal enough to warrant an annual pass. Let's say I buy multiday ticket to visit epic. If rides breakdown or lines are too long that I don't get to do everything on my day at epic, I'll feel like I wasted money.
@mattkarlsАй бұрын
@@metallicnole4514 I'm no fan of it either, but I disagree that it's a terrible business model. They've already sold out some dates and they are 6+ months out and only selling 3, 4 or 5 day park hoppers with a single ticket to Epic Universe. It is a very profitable way to limit tickets sales rather than quotas or overselling dates as Disney has and continues to use. Large and robust sales of this method only reinforce to Universal to continue the practice and that does look to be what they are receiving.
@metallicnole4514Ай бұрын
@@mattkarls Can you find the source that universal will only sell the multiday ticket for over a year? No youtuber has reported on it and as far as I know, universal said they would sell single day tickets at a later date with no time frame specified. It's a terrible business model in it not being consumer friendly. Like disney's new premier pass isn't consumer friendly with its exorbitant prices and lack of a park hopper option. Yet it's been selling out, particularly at the magic kingdom.
@brianwu269729 күн бұрын
As far as I am concerned, you do need to purchase a three-day ticket that includes only one day at Epic, not three-day ticket to Epic. Moreover, I hear that if you stay at Helios, you need to book at least two nights. I love how WDWNT mentions in a two-hour podcast questioning what is wrong with simply pricing higher. If Disney did that concerning a new theme park, they would be ripped to shreds because Disney and Universal are rightfully held to different standards.

You can't spend "hours" exploring 2 rides per land lol. Walt used to cram nearly a dozen rides per land. Decline.

Universal was forever changing theme parks with IoA - and it never did. Same here. Epic Universe is going to be a huge disappointment to most. Remember, the idea is THEME park. Mind you, there will be some great attractions, but they will be few and far between. Mario Kart is good but also often will surprise people that it is a slow ride. Yoshi is meh. The DK Coaster is REALLY short - like shorter than Tron short. The Wolfman coaster is just another Mack spinner like Cobra's Curse at Busch Gardens. Light theming and not much there. The big monsters ride is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey with animatronics. You may notice the track layout is similar, though motions will be different. The animatronics don't function very well and Universal has a lot of problems with the tech - so don't expect them to function much in the first year. Meaning they won't move and there is not a good B-mode for it. Starfall Racers is a great Mack dueler with MINIMAL theming. The carousel (essentially) is cool and unique. Ministry of Magic is Spider-Man with an added drop element - think the drop at the end of Ride of the Resistance with a bit more height and up and down. Cool ride but VERY screen based. How to Train your Dragon has some modified off the shelf flat rides and a Intamin family launch that is the same model as DarKoaster and Arctic Rescue with light theming. This park is not a game changer. It does not up the game in theme parks at all. Most of its ride cannot operate in inclement weather (only 3 can) and most queues are outdoors in the Florida heat or at least exposed to the open air because Universal doesn't want to spend on A/C. The exterior theming is nice, but most of the rides are pretty close to off the shelf. This is a theme park built on the cheap. The Nintendo rides are cheaper because they are reusing designs - some for that whole land. Same for the big Monsters ride - same track layout as Forbidden Journey - just some changes in the roboarm programming. So save engineering and architectural cost. This park and all its hotels only cost $1 Billion in a world where Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind cost $500 million and football stadiums cost $2 Billion. Wait until you see how badly designed the loading systems are. We already know how inefficient Mario Kart and Donkey Kong are. You can expect that everywhere as UC does not actually listen to operations on this stuff - they think they know better. Epic Universe will have a big first year, but most of the discussion will be how it didn't meet expectations. And their other parks are languishing with massive attendance drops over the past two years. Epic Universe presales have been under projections. What you will see VERY quickly is hours cut everywhere, maintenance schedules elongated, and many projects get postponed. That Rip Ride Rockit replacement may not come until 2027 if things are as bad as they are looking. Enjoy it, but be ready for most things to work intermittently in the first year and Universal to face fierce criticism. They have hyped this as a game changer - and it will not change anything. And with Disney bringing the heat now, Universal may be in really bad shape in the next two years.

I was confused by your post until I read the last sentence. What a great time to be a theme park fan. So much opportunity!
@MrMac1138Ай бұрын
@@LChatmanFLI just think it’s important to temper expectations. As someone who lives in Florida, I can tell you how disappointing it was to see how few attractions would be fully indoors. It will have fewer indoor attractions than Animal Kingdom when all is said and done. It will be equal to Animal Kingdom once Dinosaur closes, but fall behind when Indy and Encanto open. It rains a lot in FL during the summer and is quite hot and humid. In fairness, IoA only has five (if you count Hogwarts Express), but Studios has 12. They could have done a cover over Starfall Racers like the outdoor Tron bits (which is open during rain and lightning), but they didn’t. There early designs had more fully indoors attractions, but management did not want the expense of building, maintaining, and paying for A/C. The interesting thing is Comcast is less interested in competing. If they can cut costs and get people to come, they are fine. There’s no desire to improve quality from those that own Universal. They want ROI as fast as possible.
@LChatmanFLАй бұрын
@@MrMac1138 So I too live here & at one point had every single annual pass to every park & water park in Central Florida, concurrently. Including all the Legoland attractions - the aquarium, Madame Tussaud's, the water park etc. I only say all of that to just add context to my commentary. Meaning, I feel I have an appreciation for what makes a good central Florida theme park. Overall, my sentiments are less cynical than yours. The investments Comcast has made in Universal since the acquisition I think speak very positively about how they feel about the theme park business. Just consider the massive cost to build Hagrids or the uniqueness of the exterior designs of the two new resorts hotels. Your summation appears to be centered on cost cutting, AC specifically. Which is oddly specific. Also, your focus on the lack of indoor attractions, could lead the reader to believe that quality of a theme park is intimately tied to the number of indoor tractions. Is that what you believe? I do have to take issue with a few specific points you made. 1) Curse of the Werewolf is just another Mack spinner No. No it's not. They're no sophisticated animatronics at Cobra's curse & Cobra's curse does not have a swing feature. These are significant differences. 2) Starfall needs a canopy. Well, Tron is 78ft and Starfall is 133ft & a much larger footprint. Are we really suggesting putting the entire ride under a canopy? And don't compare it to Space MTN which only travels approx 30mph, does not duel, etc. Plus, the theming requires that the lighting package is visible at night to reinforce it's comet theme... and theming is important to you. Sorry, I am just not sure where the cynicism is coming from... unless you lost an AC bid proposal.
