It kinda reminds me of how I'd heard whoever did Gangsta's Paradise didn't like that Weird Al did Amish Paradise (never did confirm the story though, so correct me if that's not true), but like... in my opinion, if Weird Al decides to parody your work, that'd be a sign I'd MADE IT BIG, right? Weird Al would ALWAYS get the blessing from the original artist that he parodies but for whatever reason, whatever people Al/his team contacted on Coolio's team had never actually let Coolio himself know. I also don't think Coolio needed Al to let him know he made it. The music video had Michelle Pfeiffer, it was tied into a Hollywood movie, he won a Grammy, two MTV awards and it was ranked number one on charts across the world along with going platinum. Ultimately him beefing with Al probably hurt his career though and he said in an interview that it was one of his biggest regrets. (That would be until the Hot One's incident I bet lol) rip Coolio
