So other than the fact that your tools are different than what I used in cosmetology school this is how I learned to perform a pedicure. Why is it that now so many nail salons do not actually clean the skin up around the cuticle? They charge a small fortune and within a week I feel like my toes need work again.

I use a product called Gel No More by the brand Mini Mani Moo to remive both dip and gel polish. Licensed techs can email the company and get a discount code if they can send a photo of their license. For dip, thin it out with a medium grit bit until its as thin as gel polish would be. Then, put the Gel No More on as directed. Apply 2 coats without scraping the first one off. Wait a few minutes and then scrape it off with a metal tool or a birchwood stick. Repeat if any remains. Its faster than soaking. For gel polish, file off the topcoat and apply as directed. Scrape off and repeat if necessary. I do NOT work for the company and I am not affiliated with them in ANY way. I am just a cosmetologist who specializes in pedicures for difficilt and troubled feet, just like Lori. I hate that some techs won't take thick or troubled toes. I have corrected SO many nail issues just with my regular pedicure care. I owe some of that to Lori. I've been watching a long time, and though I couldn't afford to take her course, I do run my own very successful nail business. Lori is awesome, and I'd LOVE to meet her one day. I'm in Arizona, also, about 4 hours away from where she is, so hopefully I might get to shake her hand one day and tell her thank you for the help. Also... I hate dip, too. It is a pain in the butt and I developed a respiratory allergy to the activator liquid. I now only go gel polish or regular manicures IF I do fingers. I concentrate 80% of my effort in pedicures because it is so vastly needed where I live as we have a lot of elderly folks that can't take care of their own toes.

My podiatrist told me that the crooked 2nd toe is from not sizing my shoes specifically for that longer toe. He could tell right away that i was wearing shoes that were too small because the toe nails were smooshed just like that and my 2nd toes were crooked. It didnt fix my toe by going to a wider toe box, but definitely fixed my nails. Hoka bondi has a big toebox and gave my toes plenty of running room.

New Subscriber. I just found your channel. I have never really been taught how to properly care for my toenails...I have always had issues with ingrown nails. I always thought it was just something I just have live with. Now, as I have gotten older, it has gotten worse. I have extremely thick nails and pincers. As soon as I can afford it, I will take your at home class and buy the tools. In the meantime, I will continue watching and learning. ***I just recently learned that I have been buying my shoes a size to small for a longtime. ***

If your toes are bumping against the front lip on your Birkenstocks, you are wearing too small a size. The arch and straps should hold your foot in place and there should be room in front of your toes. Also real Birkenstocks have a sealed cork bed and allow your foot to breath.

the most I used to do was shellac on my toenails, but since I started going to Melissa, I only do regular nail polish. Someone once suggested I do dip b/c my fingernails peel when I'm having a flare up from my psoriatic arthritis, but my first thought was, my nail and hands are already having a tough time of it b/c of the PA, and my current workplace does not allow for anything on the nails other than regular nail polish or shellac if you have to access patient's for port care or lab work (which I'm a nurse, so I do access ports at least once a week).

Lori, why did you work so many long hours in your past?
@shykat221818 күн бұрын
In my experience of a getting a pedicure or manicure- it is not really that. It is a glorification of getting that end product- the acrylic- so, when my daughter started taking me - people go in and pick their OPI color. I went along with this routine. All I ever wanted was to have my nails and overgrown cuticles cleaned up. That was never what was offered. And to top that off I was not in it to grow 9 inch nails. I am a musician and play clarinet and piano. I cannot have long nails. It has been like that all my life. I did teach clarinet, but I have to practice what I preach. I keep my nails short. The attitude that nail people take when I would say I want my nails short- always got a comment. I do not go anymore. As far as the way they handled cuticles it always looked like they cut them with the nippers. On your videos I see that you push the top back and nip off the skin on the nail. I will happy to find someone who does your method in my area. My feet need to be overhauled. Wearing closed shoes was never great for my feet. Mine are not as bad a most, but I would like to wear sandles as I get older.
