Agreed that area and the rest of the Pine barrens have quite a colorful history. going back hundreds of years. Grand hotels ,Aristocrats, Pirates, Jerseys version of Robin Hood even a Vortex in a little town called ONG'S HAT and let's not forget Al Capone.

Yes in the early 70s we raced at pleasantville New Jersey 😢

When I was growing up the NEW Atlantic City Speedway was located in Pleasantville. My uncles garage was filled with trophies he had won there. My favorite racing though was the 3/4 midgets that raced inside Atlantic City Convention Hall.

My Dad began his love of racing when his dad took him to the Trenton Speedway in 1939. My grandfather, my dad and my brother later became USAC officials and worked in the pits. Three generations of Michael Joachim’s...and now my nephew, Michael V is involved in Indy car racing! I have a photo of the 3 Mikes In the pits that appeared in the USAC news in the 1970s. ❤️🏎🏁

Nice video! If you wander past the dirt pit at the end of your video you'll find some chimneys from the old houses. I've also found terra cotta pipe and remnants of the water tower. Very cool

Woodbridge also had a 1/2 mile board track ! Crazy to think what the cost would be today to build such a behemoth of a track with boards ! Great videos , glad you posted shots of New Egypt speedway and Wall stadium, my brother raced at wall for many years , late 80’s and 90’s !

I couldn't agree more, David. It sounds crazy to think about today. Then think about oil spills on the track. To me it sounds like driving on a bowling alley lane. Scary stuff by some pretty brave dudes!

@@TheMickeyShuffle Absolutely. Do you remember Adventure Village? It was a "family attraction" very close to Storybook Land. Not truly history but still a part of the past - nothing is left. I love the history of our state, we have an abundance of riches. Thanks for preserving it.
