Remember "Sugar, Sugar"? He's the original recording artist. Many hits under his belt. Good to see another side of him.

He also sang lead on the Cuff Links song "Tracy". Had two songs in the Top 10 at the same time, but neither act featured his actual name.

If you grew up in the 1960s or 1970s, you know Ron Dante's work, even if you don't know his name.

@@jamesdelap4085 It's true, this is from his Wikipedia - 'Dante is best known as the real life lead singer of the fictional cartoon band the Archies; he was also the voice of the Cuff Links and co-produced Barry Manilow's first nine albums.'

Wow! He started back in late 50s as a teen, at the Brill Buildings next-door stable. From there to the Archies, and Cufflinks sunshine pop hit Tracey, with Ron singing all parts on records. On to producing Barry Manilow and others, and recent summers touring with the Happy Together tour, partnered with Mark Volman for the Turtles, at age 81. Looks and sounds decades younger. He’s had an incredible career. A movie would be dandy, I’d be happy for a memoir.

Interesting. He sang in the Archies and was a producer on Barry Manilow's albums. Those Barry Manilow albums is where I've seen the name Ron Dante before.

First "Mandy" by Barry Manilow, then it was Ron Dante "Midnight Show" (song went to # 94 on Cashbox Chart & did not charted on Billboard or Record World in March of 1975 BUT it was on Bell NOT Arista) & finally the last 45 single for Bell Records, Tony Orlando & Dawn "Look In My Eyes Pretty Woman" in December of 1974. Bell became Arista Records with Clive Davis & the late Larry Uttal went to Private Stock Records.
