the I-Pace is the best looking EV out there to this day. A shame it didnt garner wider acclaim. I wonder if they'll eventually become collectible.

A great looking car, but too pricey to be common, but good value now.

I-Pace is a very common car in Norway. Only model to be a mainstream Jaguar here.

I bought my I-Pace over the Tesla Model 3 or Audi Etron in 2019 and have never looked back. Apart from a front windshield leakage in 2020 that was repaired under warranty, the car has been totally flawless in the five year I have owned it. Beautiful car both outside and inside, excellent comfort and very fast if you want it. That said, with over 100.000 km driven and having had a excellent ownership experience, it is with regret that I have to say the Jaguar/JLR had really let this car down. Apart from a few limited upgrades, the I-Pace has not been modernized to keep it competitive with the EV's from other brands. Which is an absolute shame since the basic car is just so good. A bit of restyling could have easily improved on the Cw-value for more efficiency and a better DC-charging speed could have been charging stops a lot shorter, saving time on long trips. I have done trips to Germany, France and Italy without any problems, but on long trips (1400+ km) faster charging could have saved me quite a bit of time. It's sometimes annoying to stop for a recharge and see a Hyundai Ioniq 5 park next to you, see it charging at 170 kW and leave again after 15 minutes while I am still stuck at doing a 30-45 minutes charging stop. If Jaguar would have upgraded the car I would again buy it in a heartbeat. But now, alas, I am looking at other options. The Zeekr 001 is a contender, the aforementioned Ioniq 5 but so is the new (and cheaper), Tesla Model 3.

JLR will NOT be reusing the i-Pace's battery architecture. The chemistry in the cells is similar to the LGES cells that plagued the Chevy Bolt EUV with issues. They are designing a new battery module with pouch cells a bit like GM's Ultium packs but without GM's wireless tech for their sensors and electrical harnesses. The i-Pace was designed with Magna Styr and the future Jaguars will not be entirely built by Magna. The new architecture will be lower cost to produce than the i-Pace's which is why the i-Pace will end production early to make way for the new JLR BEV platform. It's a little sad to me since the 2019-2023 i-Pace is such a beautiful vehicle. Ian Callum has done a masterful job at sculpting this vehicle.

Try owning one as I do, you soon fall out of love with it, especially with the 72% max charge... Battery issues and jlr are not the best when it comes to repairing them

MY2020 owner w/29k miles. Have had the joy of being in every recall. Service has had my vehicle there now for 9 months of my ownership.... currently in the 3rd month on this service for an LG battery boil. No loaner or updates since November and told will likely be 8-12 months for repairs once service has completed their diagnosis, so at best it will be 8 months on top of the 3 they have had it....... Dealers have no clue how to work on these if it is Electric related. As much as I love my i-pace when it works, I could never recommend a jaguar product to anyone other than an enemy. Buy a petrol

That’s a real shame you had problems, I have 2019 first edition and apart from recalls I’ve never had a problem with the car and to be fair my 2014 bmw 3 series has had a similar amount of recalls during my ownership, as for dealers, I agree that some struggle with the ipace, Stratton were awful, but since I switched to Williams in Trafford they have been great.

@Martin-cc5xn I still love the car when it is in proper order... my local dealer dropped the j from JLR and are of no use. I am in month 4 of 72% max charge allowed still with no promise of repair, with sketchy DC - honestly, it may just go to legal. 28% of my vehicle gone with no loaner or time-frame for repair is simply unacceptable for a legacy brand. And these clowns want to go all electric - SMH.

@MrSimplesimon007 careful since jaguar is abandoning petrol.... parts and service is going north on all jags - I wanted to stay electric, and once i settled up with Jag, I just went with a model X and more than happy.

I own an ftype and have had a number of other jaguars. Jaguar service is not great and i am concerned that once they stop manufacturing the ipace they will lose interest. I am considering buying an EV as a second car but much as i love jaguar cars im not sure ill buy the ipace

There are no Luxury, Premium Luxury or Portfolio trims for the I-Pace. Only S, SE and HSE for the first years. Now SE and HSE.

Yes worth noting specification, although note some world markets may differ in trim levels 👍

My i pace was a great shopping car, but not long distance, it would state 270 mile range on the off, provided I didn't use the heating/air conditioning etc. You will need the cooled seats because the sweat will start when you see the miles drop at an alarming rate. Lost more money on this car than all my other cars put together in 50 year of driving. Insurance is expensive and difficult to find, dealers don't want them, nor do they have the staff to repair them. Worry for Jaguar going forward to electric only, I have been a fan of Jaguars and most certainly will never buy another electric car.

It was always overrated and far too expensive. The software was slow and big and bulbous.

Having driven many electric cars and having chosen the Jaguar as the best and bought two, I think you have missed the general excellence of the vehicle. Yes the price is high, but not dissimilar to a Model Y with the same level of equipment despite being much better built. I also do not know what you are talking about with the software as on both the I-Pace's I have owned, the software has been fine. I prefer the mix of buttons and screens to the Tesla and others solution of all screen as they are so difficult to use and take so much more concentration when driving than a simple knob or button. As for big and bulbous, lol, I find it beautiful as you get an XJ sized interior in an XF sized package. To each his own I suppose.

@@Jonoponomono I don’t disagree it is well made and maybe software improved. There are reasons why it will be phased out and that’s because better value from multiple other manufacturers. Jaguar will have to try harder to get new customers if they don’t want to lose a big chunk of the electric market.

All EV price will eventually plummet horribly and rapidly. Most of the people have been taken for a ride by the hype and marketing gimmick by manufacturer and policy maker. My advice is to stick with the current NA car. Wait another 5-10 years to decide whether it’s worth the plunge. Maybe by then they’ll introduce another version of environmental friendly car and abandon EVs. Think!

Why wait another 5-10 years when you can wait another 20-30 years.
@pkmcb300
@pkmcb300 2 ай бұрын
@@andrewcocos 5-10 actually is a conservative estimation. 10-15 years should be ideal to gauge the market outlook and direction it’s heading. The world’s oil resources is just an estimate because no one has a perfect calculation of how much is left or when it will be gone. Global warming has nothing much to with our vehicles’ emissions but other factors as well. Manufacturing batteries in large quantities and well as disposing is a non environmental friendly process too. Manufacturers want to create a new market to earn more money therefore exploiting us with this technology. For me NA vehicle is still very much the best way forward at least for now.
