If you truly supported gender equality, you would’t point out the fact that you’re a girl, because you’re a drummer either way. @@wibblywobblytimewarp3180 ooo! Okay, so have you ever heard of rudiments? There's a ton and That's kinda what I think you're doing. Specifically, you're doing what's called doubles. CONGRATS, YOU'RE AHEAD! Look up the four basic rudiments every drummer should know and practice those. (They're lame but you should know them lol) NOW, for your rolls, a roll isn't actually you hitting the drum multipliple times. It's hitting the drum once, and controlling the bounceback of the drum stick. Every drum has a little bit of bounce when you hit it. Try holding the drum stick loose in your hand so it can kind of teeter a little bit. Hit the drum and the stick should bounce a few times. To get that crisp, smooth roll sound you need to work on controlling that stick by using your remaining 3 fingers and the tightness of your pinch. I hope that helps, it's kinda hard to explain without a visual aid. Play around with that until something sounds right!
