Lewis and Clark were assigned to blaze a trail to see what the Louisiana Purchase had added to the size of the US when buying land that France claimed ownership of (Napoleon needed the funds). Sacagawea was the famous native American who traveled with them as she was originally a Lemhi Shoshone (from what is now Idaho) and only about 17 yrs old when she traveled with them. They traveled all the way to the mouth of the Columbia River - which you may see if you continue West yourselves. They started in St Louis, MO.

This area interested me since reading "The Journals of Lewis and Clark" many years ago. From Lemhi Pass (Missouri Headwaters) to Lolo Pass (Pacific Watershed), no wagons, just boats and horses. Love the rustic cabins, perfect for a vacation road trip. The video has Zen feeling, watching beautiful miles fly by, under a blue sky. Where am I? Here and now! Coffee and a bun - Satori.

I live here in America, and it's great to hear you coming to USA and see what most of us take for granted. Now some of that is because you are doing it on a bike, as I view all states differently, the smells, signs, terrain and businesses that are different with a journey like yours. Great video. Lewis & Clark are early 19th Century explorers on par with Captain Cook! They mapped and explored wilderness territory from the Mississippi River to the Pacific mapping the Louisiana Territory just purchased from France and claimed the Pacific Coast of Oregon and Washington for the US contesting earlier claims by Russia and England. They are unquestionalbly the most famous of American explorers; Well, other than Niel Armstrong and the Apolo 11 Crew, but no one is going to trace the Apolo 11 crew on motorcycles.

Idaho has more national parks than any other State. We in the States, need to have two different sets of riding gear. We generally run 3 season gear in Spring, Fall and Winter but in Summer we are in Mesh gear or fully ventilated gear, boots, pants, jacket and gloves. Thats if your a pro-rider. Most American “Cruiser types do it in Jeans and “T” Shirts, amazing.

If we can get widespread passenger train service like the UK we would be thrilled.

Lewis and Clarke were two explorers charted by the young United States to cross the continent from 1804 to 1806 exploring the then-new Louisiana Purchase. This was long before wagon trains... settlers were just moving into Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. It took them a year to reach the Pacific Ocean at present-day Astoria, Oregon, and a year to return to St Louis and then to the East Coast. Going through land that had never been traveled by Europeans, they faced hostile Native American tribes and were aided by their Indian guide Sacagawea and her French-Canadian traper husband who accompanied them onctheir journey. The Lolo Highway (Hwy 12) parallels their track... they actually took thecroute that is now the unpaved Lolo Motorway. Like the videos, and was surprised to see you here instead of toodling around England. It's a bit different, isn't it, and even though England is beautiful it's mostly peaceful (as is much of the eastern and midwest) as opposed to majestic like the mountain west and Pacific coast.

7:14. Its funny you notice the F150, the most common vehicle in America. F250-350s are used on farms and for towing 5th wheels and travel trailers. Not something you really see back on the Island. Four door pickups are the most common family vehicle, really. That is starting to change with the price of fuel. RV usage became the favorite past time activity due to COVID. That activity was fairly unrestricted. The prices of the RVs and Trucks went up like crazy during the Covid adventure.

The Lewis and Clark expedition was not a wagon train but on foot with pack horses and mules from the Mississippi River to the pacific ocean, the first ever, and they had a young Indian woman who spoke three native languages and some French as their interpreter who volunteered to go with them!

Luise and Clark, were explorers credited for mapping out the North West territories. I think they were French explorers.

Hi Andy …love your channel !! I am a 1200GS rider from the Toronto area…been following you for years . I am concerned for Carol’s safety regarding mounting the bike…unsafe for her to mount the bike with you off the bike…please look into it before you incur a fall .
