Hey rider ! You are right about the feel of riding a Ducati . I remember the day I rode my new 1984 Suzuki 750 home , and said to myself "what a nice bike " . I remember riding my new 1991 Ducati 900 ss and saying to myself "what an awesome machine " ! There is the difference . put 196.000 miles on that 900 , traded in for 2001 Ducati St 2 loved that bike 206.000 miles on it , just got a 2011 multistrada 1200 with 40.000 miles . this may be my last motorcycle, it is fantastic to ride . one more thing , damn it's weird to see you ride on the wrong side of the road !!😄😄😄 merry Christmas

Yo dude...your vid review is one of the reasons I'm now riding a 2017 Multistrada. I've ridden motorcycles for over 40 years, but over the last 10 I was glued to H-D's and each new one got bigger and bigger, and I found I was riding less and less each year. Each one pulled me farther and farther away from my spirited dirt-bike riding/motocross roots. Last year I told my wife I was done with riding Harleys...for sooo many reasons. She was not happy, but understood. Earlier this year I went to a local bike shop to look at a BMW I saw online...and in person I was underwhelmed. Then, literally, I turned around and saw a 2017 Multistrada with only 5,000 miles on it staring me in the face, and I was floored by the looks/style of the bike. At that point I was pretty convinced that was going to be my next bike. I had to wait a few months for the weather to let me take it out for a test ride...and when I did, I was hooked: The power, the handling, the styling...THIS was the bike I've wanted for decades, but didn't know it. I'm now putting roughly a 1,000 miles a month on my Duc, and loving every minute. So thanks from the U.S. MissendenFlyer!

Another entertaining review. The baby Multistrada tugged at my heartstrings - looks to die for, but my brain (or perhaps my posterior) won the day: I confess to having ordered the new Tiger 800 XCA; heated grips and seats, full LED lighting (we are in the throws of winter here in Switzerland), and an equally fantastic engine. I just hope I have made the right decision.....

Totally agree with your first point. I took a Pikes Peak 1200 Multistrada with a full exhaust system for a test ride and had to fill it up pretty much straight away, and the feeling of being seen getting back on that was something I've just never felt before. Like you're just the king of the road while you're on it ;) didn't buy it though as I just didn't trust it to last long enough with me, I have to keep my bikes outside and by the sea sometimes, and leave them for months at a time. That's why I went with my trusty 1200 Tiger instead (with maintenance free shaft drive) - But the Multistrada 1200 is still my dream bike!

Exceedingly glad you chose not to tarnish a princess Scott. Many Ducati in Sydney suffer that fate "neglect'. As though the owner is saying I can afford to trash this baby. Reeks of snobbery but its such a crying shame.

Hey rider ! Didn't realize a multistrada 1200 was a dream bike for me , but after 205.000 miles on my 2001 St 2 I was looking for something that was more roomy. The wonderful 196.000 miles I put on my 1991 900 ss pretty much had me looking for another Ducati . found a 2011 white 1200 multistrada with over 2 grand of add ons , service records. I believe the 40.000 miles affected the price . Got it for 6 grand ! Love it! Just turned 65 , this may be my last bike! And that is fine with me 😄merry Christmas

Once again, another great video tmf. have a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year. I would have to agree with you on all of your points. The suspension is in my mind another great bonus on this bike (that is for soaking up the bumps). On mine I have an inch spacer at the bottom of the screen which allows some more air in at the bottom and have no notion of changing the screen. A great all around bike. Fuel economy is also very good. I am getting sometimes over 64mpg and for a Ducati the Pirelli Scorpions are good wearing tyres

Thanks again TMF. You put the whole Ducati quality/ price/ snobbery debate in perspective. I went in March to try the Ducati Scrambler and the guy showed me this and detailed the extra value for a bit more readies. I fell for it. The Ducati Multistrada 950 is my bike of choice and you detailed exactly why. I just have to find the 'Extra Readies'. Are you able to to do some off road coverage? I'd love to see how it goes, but then you don't take the GS off the tar do you?

No doubt Ducati can make a great handling bike. Interestingly on the new 1260 they have lengthened the swing arm and increased the wheelbase for more 'stability' meaning some of that sharp handling may be dulled?? Hopefully you can get a ride on one and see how it compares. Cheers and happy Christmas.

Love your onboard vids TMF. Am I weird prefering the looks of the Super 10? The riders view of the Multi is like the Tiger Sport, looks like a weely bin with bars! Gotta love the little badge details and the like though and always a soft spot for Ducatis.

Yeah I think you’re right, you are weird Nigel - IMO the Tiger Sport and the MTS are too of the best looking adventure bikes out there....
@nigelren37197 жыл бұрын
Well to me from the riders view it looks like a wheely bin with an I pad and some handlebars. When you get off it, the front looks like someone set fire to said wheely bin. It's screams sucker with more money than sense, who went all gooey about a badge. It's no different to a 10 year old bike that costs a fraction of the price and is probably just as reliable. Sucker that needs a dealer to do simple maintenance tasks, sensors to tell him his tyres are soft and brakes that don't lock mid corner, cos he's hasn't a clue what he's doing.

TheMissendenFlyer I have ridden Multistrada 950 and it is as you described.Maybe 1090 has a more touring seat position and bigger engine but 950 has very good gear ratio which make the engine very juicy too.About the finish of the components Ducati is better.About look Ducati wins for my taste.In my country 950 is 300 euro more expensive but that is not a serious reason not to buy that in that price range of bikes.Plus 950 has a full setting fork and standard monobloc brembo brakes.

I think it's one of the better balanced street bikes out there for the road. Power to weight is about perfect to have a blast without needing a NASA computer to keep its tires on the road. Duc chromoly steel trellis frames instill confidence in hard cornering (at street speeds) like nothing else. The ground clearance and tire sizes make gravel road short cuts a piece of cake. The luggage has adequate capacity for some short solo sport touring. The luggage rack gives it the ability to transform into a full capacity tourer. I prefer the double sided swingarm as I don't want another jackstand taking up space in my garage. Seems like a bike I could get on with without changing thing. If there'd be one thing I worry about is the plastic dash. My Versys dash has a tendency to melt on hot days when the sun hits the windscreen just right. It'd be just about irresistible in Ducati yellow...

Great short review. I love big Italian v-twins. Ducati, Moto Morini and Sofia Loren spring to mind! Useless at 30mph (the bikes not Sofia Loren) but you don’t buy them for that reason. Italian machines are beautiful in a way that BMW’s and KTM’s aren’t.Triumphs generally look like that have been designed by Lance Corporal Harrington-Farquhar, except the early 675 Daytona. Ok, so the new Norton V4 is a stunner! But Ferrari’s of the motorbike world? Don’t lets get carried away here.....you’re all too young. That would be MV Augusta. I would expect it to be a good one Ducati thanks for your top 5’s. One q. What benefit would it have to blur the speedo the way you do? I mean when the speed can be easily determined by your video timing and the length of the lines on the tarmac (typically made under official specifications and known lengths).

G’day from Australia, can I please ask a quick question, i’m thinking of buying the V2 but in Aus it’s a 6 month wait and no bikes to test ride, in your opinion is the bike you rode perfectly well mannered at slow speeds? I've red 2 reviews saying it’s a bit grumbly unless it’s on the boil. I don’t really ride that fast, just like cruising around the country side where I live at about 40-50km. Yes I should probably buy a cruiser but I just love the ducati for the looks, the soft ride, safety tech etc. I greatly appreciate your thoughts. Thank you, Cheers Andrew

Reliabilty and functionality comes before design in my priority list. If something Looks very good there's always a little voice in my head that says: yeah, but what if..... But all seems ok whit this Ducati 😋

TMF Can you ride the 1260 and let me know which one you'd honestly go for ? I want a 1200s really badly but it is significantly more expensive, and when you factor in that ducati only does 3 year PCP deals, it means it's only affordable for the really well off (imo) I mean who can afford to justify £250+ per month) for a multi 1200s with a deposit of 2-3k. I'm specifically interested in the differences between standard and skyhook suspension.

Will see what I can do - when I rode with skyhook when it first came out I honestly couldn’t tell it was anything special!

Compared to the GS it's faster and slightly top heavy - feels heavier at standstill. In my view the GS is the better all round bike, but if you want fun, then the MTS is the one to go for...

Doea it handle better than GS?

No - on a par with and faster but feels heavier in comparison...

An interesting watch as ever MF. I like Ducatis as well though the thing that put me off is the possible reliability issues though that might just be internet forum syndrome. Previously when going into Ducati dealerships I always got the feeling they had a take it or leave it attitude and the servicing costs are very high so if I ever bought one I'd seriously consider the PCP route so if the initial experience was bad I could hand the bike back at the end of the term and just walk away. Maybe they've changed their attitude since I looked at geting one previously and their customer service is now on a par with the likes of BMW which I'm used to. They do look the dogs doo dahs though

Well I can only speak from my own experience, I have had one small issue with my Duc (rusty chain) that was sorted under warranty (was a PITA though) and I think as far as the dealers are concerned they vary - my local Ducati dealer is rubbish, has exactly that unhelpful attitude, so I bought my Panigale from Ducati Croydon and had it delivered too me, they could not have been more helpful, a lovely bunch of chaps there....so different from my local lot...
@Banditmanuk7 жыл бұрын
Think you only truly find out how good a dealer is when you have after sales / warranty issues. When I had Multiple issues with my Multi back in 2011 I can only say my then dealer JHP Ducati Coventry were fantastic. Love the looks of the Ducati, a little scarred by the ownership experience.
@painmagnet17 жыл бұрын
See, this is a bit of my problem as well with these beautiful bikes... Locally to me, Ducati is the choice of the dickhead rider- gleaming, cocky and smug. The dealership people are the same way. I went there for some track gear and was immediately turned off by the attitudes on display. Lovely machines but around here they probably wouldn't even let me buy one without capped teeth, a manicure and hair transplant.
@TheMissendenFlyer7 жыл бұрын
I dunno why some dealers are like that....I suspect they are the less successful ones long term....
@benjamincs14 жыл бұрын
Maybe I'm weird, but I don't like the looks. To me an ADV bike should look like a GS. The Multi is a weird mix of GS and sportbike. If only there were a cheap GS that sounded like a Duc but had shaft drive...

I would class the Multistrada a sports tourer more than an adventure bike, same class as the Yamaha MT 09 tracer or the Triumph Tiger 1050. Some things to dislike about the Multistada would be initial cost and the cost of servicing, the Ferrari comparison is very apt, it is not the case of having the money to buy one it is having the money to service the beast and keep them on the road. If anyone keeps them long enough to have the cam belts replaced or the valves adjusted start saving now, exotica comes at a price.

I like your videos, I'm also a Ducati fan but can't get used to this new-age crap of a V engine being called an L twin. Honda for example have a range of 90 degree engines and have always been V twin or V four. Clue's in the title VFR, VT, VF etc. American muscle cars are mainly if not all V8 although they have a 90 degree configuration. Never hear of a 'Big L 8' Maybe I'm getting too old as I also cringe at the word Owdee(like owl) instead of Audi (like auto) and Porshur instead of Porsche, Purshow instead of........ I bet Delboy is old school too, just sayin. Thumbs up all the same, Merry Christmas.

Everything is great, but the fact its missing cruise control is just stupid. Ducati, quit that shit! It’s a touring machine, there’s absolutely no excuse for it to not include cruise control. If that’s a $100 cost to you, just make the damn bike $100 more FFS!
@Ducati_Dude6 жыл бұрын
100% agreed... Late summer 2014 I was shopping a new bike... had it narrowed down to two machines... the BMW R1200GS, or a Ducati Multistrada. Really liked the MTS, but it didn't have factory CC. Well... the 2014's didn't anyways. As the GS had CC and the MTS didn't, I almost pulled the trigger on a 2015 GS. Fortunately, I learned that the 2015 MTS would have factory CC. Shortly thereafter, I paid a visit to the local Duc Dealer and placed an order for a 2015 MTS/S...

Another design boo-boo on the 950 (IMO), is the lack of a separate toggle switch for the heated grips. On my MTS/S 1200, a few presses of the HG toggle Sw on the right handlebar will decrease/turn off the HG system. On the 950 the rider must go through a dash menu sequence to control the HG system... Very inconvenient. Like how much could a toggle switch cost... Seriously! When you are sailing down the road with the HG set to High, and your hands are going Nuclear... it's nice to be able to quickly lower the temp, or turn off the system completely without having to take your eyes off the road...
