3:15 This is most likely caused because turning leaves to fast graphics would just make the leaves a solid block, removing the transparent background.

The arm movements in the inventory menu were likely a hold over from the RD versions of the game where you could find and/or spawn the human mob. Those mobs would flail their arms about when they moved. Notch likely copied parts of the human mob code and used it for the player. If you look at Survival Test Multiplayer Servers (those were possible to make by messing with the code even though they weren't officially supported yet) the models of the players are based on the human mobs and have the same animations. My best guess is that since third person view wasn't added yet, Notch didn't think you would ever see your model moving and didn't bother to change the animations.

Being able to craft or sort your inventory while on the move would be a fantastic quality of life/productivity feature. Speed runners would probably bust having that added to the game.

I’d love it if they brought back monoliths as a small biome, they’re just so cool looking and imposing on the landscape. Plus there are some mountains IRL that kind of look similar

I think it's because my laptop was weird, but every time I loaded a new world I'd get monoliths. Or Chunk Erasure. My first ever survival world and Hardcore world had me living in a Monolith, which I then got slowly repurposed into a sky scraper as I needed more rooms (Farm, Enchantment Room, Nether Portal Room, etc). It was fun, and yeah, I miss that. Wasn't even OP or anything since I'd only ever find coal in them at best
@Shugunou Жыл бұрын
The biome could also have other terrain bugs like the giant cliffs created in Bedrock Edition when you convert an already generated infinite or old world to superflat or those sinkholes caused by chunk errors. It could be called the Glitsh Biome. Glitsh is the Yiddish word for a slippery place but is also the origin of the word "glitch". Every block in the biome could be slippery.

01:29 This bug is explained because the tool breaks before the block. The game then believes you broke the stone with your bare hands since the tool is gone. Since you don't drop a stone block by mining it with your hands, this is why the bug happens. Though it has been fixed somewhere in Beta because I never played Alpha and came across this bug.

The reason the first person hand moves weirdly when your inventory is open is because there is Only One Of Each Model in minecraft every player, your first person arm, and the inventory "doll" are all technically the same model object, just being reposed and rerendered every time. whats happening is the "doll" is being posed and rendered, and then next frame that pose carries over to the first person arm. The first person arm model at these points in the game's life weren't being given a default pose, since they got all their animations from being "parented" to the same thing held blocks and items were, so "why would i need to give it a default pose?" this also extends to being in 3rd person. if youre in 3rd person and start walking, then enter first person again your hand will be in whatever pose it was in 3rd person if im not mistaken, this is also the source of (or at least in the same family as) the ever annoying bug with boats and minecarts where your hand would change to look like it was halfway through punching. presumably, taking part of the "sitting in vehicle" pose on accident.

12:52 Feels so nostalgic seeing minecart boosters, I still remember when I learned how to make boosters that would reset themselves. Needed that for use in multiplayer servers since it would be a pain to have to manually reset them.
@proxy1035 Жыл бұрын
fun fact, the "&e" part of the broken score is from minecraft internal text formatter which allows you to color text, do italics and bold, underline it, and some other effects. but it uses the § symbol instead of &. and "§e" specifically makes yellow text. so i assume the score number was supposed to be made yellow, but either the wrong symbol was used for the formatting, or the gameover screen didn't go through the formatter before being shown on screen, either case it didn't work. 4:53 i thought that was intensional so that you could fight mobs through doors without opening them.

the game used to not allow you to place torches on chests due to the conflict of both placing the torch and opening the chest taking the same action key, but if you dug one block deep out below the front of the chest, placed a slab there, aimed your cursor at it with the torch and right clicked, it would place the torch on the chest. i have no idea how long this bug existed for, i found it by accident.

@codemob Жыл бұрын
3:35 this is because the fast graphics setting removes block transparency entirely instead of just rendering the block solid. Because torches can only be placed on solid blocks this creates that odd torch bug.

I remember playing and experiencing the through-the-corner bug It followed the SW rule, meaning you had to be careful with strip mining at lava level, but otherwise basically everything you showed off in this video But also, you could get a similar function with ladders and (flowing) water. I can’t recall if it really has to be flowing water or if a water source would work There was a LOT of funkiness that followed the SW rule

I recognize some of these bugs from my beta Minecraft server I'm running (currently on beta 1.3)! Specifically the weird stairs, some items appearing behind the gui, you being able to place blocks through doors, and you falling through a block when killing a minecart you are in (although that was patched in beta 1.1 I believe). I didn't know about the superspeed one, I could theoretically do that since I'm hosting the server... hmmm tempting lol

This video is a real trip down memory lane! I can't believe some of these Minecraft exploits from 2010 are still lurking around. It's amazing to see how far the game has come since then. Thanks for sharing these hidden gems with us. It's always fascinating to learn about the history of the game and how players used to push the limits of what was possible. Minecraft has truly evolved over the years, but it's essential to remember where it all started. Keep up the fantastic work, and I can't wait to see more nostalgic Minecraft content from you in the future! 🌟👾🎮

The tool breaking as it breaks a block then not dropping the block was/is something hard set in my mind whenever on Minecraft. I remember trying Alpha on my family computer and I ran into that issue, I didnt play much on Java Alpha but I knew of it happening and already kinda started avoiding breaking a tool on anything I wanted. The habit got hard set in me however on Xbox Minecraft when it came out. I was able to play on that a lot more then Alpha and it even became a tip I was told/told others when playing. I never remember if its fixed or not and still avoid breaking tools all together if I can.

4:36 Wait, holding items in your 2 x 2 crafting grid is a bug? weird, I heard from another Minecraft video (probably a skip-the-tutorial one) that holding items in this grid is a feature that exists in (i think) bedrock (or was it java?) Back in the early days of PE version, Ive seen a survival world go half creative, half survival. Also, perhaps related because it was on the same world, at render distance, monoliths formed in a checker board formation- every other chunk. There was also an iron door half thing on that world, and water could be placed as a block and would defy gravity unless updated. That was around the time dark oak and the mesa became a thing in the game.
