We do this, and all boxes go to recycling on Mondays and then we collect new boxes for the week, changes it up. Occasionally we will get a special box, either flat or long tube like, those I keep longer, lol

As someone who has had to have an ER visit for my ferret in the past, I honestly reccommend setting aside at least $1,000 for emergency funds. Sadly because they are still considered exotic, most places upcharge. We found that out the hard way(our ER vet bill was $957). I would say $1,000 is a good safety net, especially if for some reason your ferret needs multiple x-rays, medications, or overnight vet visits. I loved your video though, you could own ferrets for years but always learn something! For sure going to purchase that air filter!

My solution for water spillage is to place the water bowl on a beach towel. Playing with the water is something my ferret enjoys and it keeps her busy for a few minutes!

I've been asking my mom for a ferret for years and what she's been saying is "no we can't there to much work" or "no the too expensive". And my dog is really sick and old and he just died recently so I'm finally getting a ferret for my BDay

Ferrets are huge responsibilities that not all apartments accept. They are wonderful, but very expensive pets. And 7 to 9 year commitments. Not necessarily ideal pets for broke college students, or new apartment dwellers. Apartments may not accept them, and if they do you may lose your deposit for destruction of carpet. I dont recommend for young adults moving out, its probably why there aren't videos convincing parents to get them for young people. Seasoned ferret owners are concerned about parents having to rehome ferrets or teenagers not having the knowledge to take care of complicated issues, like impaction and insulinoma. Few young people have the money and responsibility to take care of ferrets.

When my ferret, Bruce, was alive, we fed him a cat food. I don’t know what it is called, though. We also got him a marshals freeway tunnel, and he LOVED it. He went crazy in it. He passed away at the age of one from insolimona. It is really sad, but he is in heaven now. 😇

I take a beach towel and drag it behind me (while making sure to walk backwards and keep an eye on all my critters) One hops on, gets a ride and immediately goes into weasel war dance mode...the other one hops on and they start wrestling. I go down the hall and back and forth...They fall off and climb back on...it's hilarity. And cheap! I call it beach towel bingo. Just make sure they're in front of you at all times tho..

#themodernferret I love watching your videos! Your ferrets are so stinking cute and you are so informative! We adopted 2 ferrets over the summer and are so in love with them! One thing I've notice I'm having a hard time finding is a good gate. Most of the ones I've come across are not conducive to ferrets (they climb the normal baby gates, and others have a space at the bottom where they can crawl right under). Do you have any recommendations on a good gate for our mischievous little noodles (Rocket and Alfredo)?

That octopus is awful 😭 I got one when I first got ferrets because a friend had talked about it, luckily they only liked the middle part and not really the offshooting tubes... I used it more for poop prevention then anything tbh. However one thing I didn't know about this stupid toy that I discovered after it got a small hole on the inside, it's literally lined WITH FOAM. That's right, the same thing that's inside your couch and has killed many ferrets with blockages. I flipped the whole thing inside out and it's horribly sewn, there was bits of foam poking out from inside the seams. I'm VERY lucky my ferrets will literally put nothing in their mouths that isn't food or a toy we give them but if my heart didn't sink because I know if it wasn't me who grabbed this defective one someone else possibly with less cautious ferrets could have lost their babies because of this thing.

There's some amazing ones on etsy actually! I got two harnesses from Wowpaw and they fit snug as a glove, they also have sizing options for smaller ferrets too and their harnesses are very fashionable while staying affordable and supporting a small business as well!

also when you are not recommeding tunnels for ferrets i highly recommend cat tunnels and toys for cats. Our ferret been using Cat tunnels for few years now and never got stuck or had a problem , he even went as smart as using the walls designed to pill some of cat nails as his own little pedicure spot ;-)

A few years ago I had called for Pet Insurance for ferrets and either they wouldn't take them or it just wasn't worth it - especially because it only covers one ferret at a time. Dogs and cats tend to be more expensive, so it could be worth it for them.

Biggest issue I’ve had since getting ferrets is the litter box situation. I’ve made my own that has done the best so far and they use it 90 percent of the time, but sometimes they still go right directly in front of it. I’d like to use the large pan you showed, I just am afraid to try it because mine tend to like to go directly in corners. Any suggestions?

Same here! I'm going to try the puppy training pads in their litter box, and shield the corners with it and see how that works.🤞🏾 My family and I are new owners of two 4 month old ferrets, so these videos are really helping a lot!
