Will.... You said you were trying to stream line in keeping up with emails to answer questions. It's nice that you have generously have allowed your viewers to email you at your photography email address. Even though I have emailed you I kinda dislike clogging up your photography business email with emails from me. Two suggestions - maybe create a second email address solely for questions that your viewers might have. The second suggestion is maybe try having a 'live' broadcast where people could ask questions and you would respond to their questions. Best, Duane

The 18-35 is destined to be a cult classic. It’s just a phenomenal lens . I got one when they first came out besides all the reviews bashing its short focal lenght. It’s perfect for me and so are the photos
@TizOnly15 жыл бұрын
You're 100% right on the calibration piece on Art lenses. All Art lenses have weird focusing issues, where they back focus sometimes, front focus on other times, and there's no real way to make it work consistently. This goes away with mirrorless, so Art lenses (which were already good enough to be worth using on DSLR even with the focus inconsistencies) are no brainier choice on mirrorless.

I have the Sigma 30mm f1.4 (for a APS-C) sensor Nikon and I love, it's super sharp and the picture quality is great. Now I just ordered the Z6 and I hope to keep using it (even if it's with crop mode) because I really like that lens. Maybe later I'll think about selling it and getting one for FF. Anyone with experience using a crop sensor lens in the Z6?
@caleidoo5 жыл бұрын
14:40 Suprised you didn't know that the AF on a dslr and mirrorless like the Z6 work completely differently. Fase detection vs contrast detection. One of the reasons I went for a Z6 is to eliminate the erratic and unreliable fase detection AF on my Sigma Art lenses - I have the 20, 35 & 50 F1.4. Like you said, on the Z6, the AF is always spot on. There is no weak chain that can mess things up. Which was the case when using Sigma Art lenses and their reversed engineered fase detection AF on Nikon DSLR's.

@@sottosopra4769 I have the 20 1.4, 35 1.4 and 50 1.4 Sigma Art on my Z6. All working well. There was a firmware update for one of those, but not sure which one. The USB dock for sigma lenses is about 60 dollar/euro. So if that 24 1.4 is in good shape and in no need for a firmware update, it will work well. You should test of course. But video is rarely done in AF only of course.

Well after already having the sigma 35mm f1.4 and I sold it for not using it enough and I barely shoot that wide. Well after picking up the new Nikon 50 & 85 f1.8S lenses I thought I would be fine with everything I normally shoot. Well a client wanted some family photos in a small living room and my 50mm was not wide enough. So I pulled out my old 35-70 f2.8D lens in my other camera bag and had to manually focus it on my z6. It worked great but with restless kids trying to manual focus was not easy. So I went and picked up another Sigma 35mm f1.4 so I can start doing wider shots for my clients. My style is up close and love compression and using it properly you can take a bad background and make it an amazing shot. I thought about buying a 24-70 but I love using primes and they keep me from standing in one spot. So I seen enough reviews on why a 35mm is vital to master its time to be open minded with my style. Love your channel!

I adapt my 85, and 105 sigma art lenses. The 105mm is my favorite lens and it's gorgeous on my z7 and for me it's worth the weight for the output. The 85mm extremely heavy, twice as the 35 mmm which was a little bit of issue for me at the beginning with my dslr but with the Z6 feels a lot better (just got the Z6). With the D850 was very difficult to do sharp hand held shoots below 1/200 sec. and wide open or bellow f2. With the Z6 even wide open the images are tack sharp. The FTZ is a bit of a kluge. I find it very impractical when it comes to using the Z6 on a Gimbal, less so on a Slider, incompatible with cages like the 8simm which require you to screw on and off the extra FTZ support making it impossible to switch lenses... quickly.

Question is, why did not put Nikon the rubber gasket around the new z mount - they have new lenses, there will be no additional restriction to nikon or the other lens manufacters.. If you have weather sealing on your camera the problem is solved whether the lens is weathersealed or not.. Same thing with Canon EOS R where the shutter covers the sensor when the lens is off, thats brilliant idea :)

@@TheMonochromeMemoirs Sigma's native lens mount is now the L mount (with Panasonic+Leica) and they're releasing these ART primes in coming months in L mount (and E mount) with rubber gaskets. ART lenses with "dust- and splash-" resistance in SLR mounts: 14/28/40/70/105/135, 14-24/24-70/100-400 (the new 70-200 is a 'Sports' lens.) The 'Sports' lenses have always had weather-sealing, and the newer ART lenses added gaskets to the SLR mounts due to popular demand from about 2017 onward, I think (i.e. excluding 20/24/35/50, 85? except in L or E mounts where they do have them). P.S. Note that there is also a 24mm FOV APS-C 'Contemporary' lens: 16/30/56mm f/1.4 for L (due 2020Q1), E, m4/3 mounts with dust/splash-res. Plus a newly designed line of full-frame mirrourless lenses (L mount, probably E mount, perhaps Z mount later - they haven't ruled it out) begin launching 2020Q1, and the wide-angle lenses can be made smaller and with better corner performance due to the short-flange. Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your 70-200 g2 and 45mm f1.8 Vic by tamron . I have both well had the 45mm VC but sold it. But by updating the firmware with the TAP console by tamron for the 70-200 g2 it is a flipping beast on my z6. Mind blowing on how accurate it is and with eye auto focus. But I contacted tamron in June when I received my z6 and asked if they had any updates for their lenses for the Z6 and they only had it for the G2 and not the 45mm vc and they had no clue when they were going to release an update for the 45mm So that is why I sold it. But now Tamron released that they are going to update and release firmware’s for all their SP lenses and it might be out already. So I just wanted to let you know this because I am using the 70-200 g2 without every day without any problems. I hope this helped

Thanks for the input Ed and I totally agree. I mainly made this video because I promised I would since I rarely add new lenses. My channel vision is definitely centered on developing creative vision and real ice things we can do do make better photos. There will be some gear stuff thrown in as well though! Thanks for watching brother

@@TheMonochromeMemoirs Totally understand (the gear stuff). It is hard to cover photography, even creatively, without once in awhile talking about the gear you use. However I think it there is huge difference between talking about gear you own and use, and doing unboxings and reading specs to viewers of something you'll never put real use. Not the same kind of gear videos IMO. Keep it up (I tried to do some B&W themed vlogs but it wasn't fitting my style)

In watching the Angry Photographer he had talked about a bad experience with a Sigma lens. I don't own any art lenses but I do own a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM DX lens and have been happy with it. I know another KZbin photography site where that person had a bad experience with a Tamron lens and admitted he had a problem in recommending Tamron but he was truthful in explaining what had happened. I think sometimes a bad experience with any type of product can make a person biased against that product. I've never owned a Sony camera and I wouldn't take one even if they gave me one. Why? Because my camera store told me Sony was one of the hardest companies they had to work with to get faulty cameras repaired/warranty work. I think every major camera or lens manufacturer has made a bad copy where a customer had to return it. One reason is I think the manufacturer's quality control has allowed some bad copies to be sold to their customers. Will, I agree with you - I don't care what brand of photography equipment I use, just as long as the equipment meets my needs. Will - and I'm glad to hear that your photo shoot went well! Best of luck in your photography journey Duane
