It's insane to see a kid his age be so fundamentally sound! As much as I enjoy watching (and hearing) a Barcia or Tomac, it's impossible to not respect his style a little more. It looks effortless to him but it takes so much more concentration to not over rev the piss out of the bike, or fingerblast the clutch into oblivion. Not to mention his body placement is perfect and it looks like his head is somehow connected to the bike because I've never seen him get any head shake.

@@Griffin283 Well it seems pretty clear after this current season that Jett squeezes even more out of the bike than Tomac while maintaining composure, and thus consistency. Tomac's style is moreso just full send and sometimes it looks like the bike is taking him for a ride rather than the other way around. Jett puts down faster laps, despite looking completely effortless.

Jett is going to have to add about 5 to 10 more lbs of muscle to be phenomenal on a 450. You can tell when he's trying to hop the bike around like he does on a 250 he comes up just a bit short. A little more strength and he'll battle Sexton to the end next summer.

You can tell they haven't got the bike dialed in and that he's still getting used to the extra weight and power. There's little pauses he's making in the middle of turns before he gets on the throttle, like he's trying to set the bike into the rut so it doesn't stand up as quickly from the power. I'm also seeing more mid-corner corrections than usual. You can also tell he's not pushing the pace very hard, I would be willing to bet this is more just getting acquainted with the bike and not really training or testing. I'm sure he's going to look a lot more comfortable in a couple weeks once they get his settings figured and he gains confidence in how the bike will behave.

I know I will be hated on for this but what I saw was Jett being very uncomfortable on the bike. If he was to race tomorrow, I would probably compare him with Joey Savatgy level at best on the 450. Most people thought a transition to the 450 was going to be flawless because of his technique, etc. I just don't see that as reality right now. Can he be a Chase Sexton and get better and better as he gets more comfortable? Of course he can and I personally believe that he will be better than Sexton and Tomac. I just believe based off this video that he is going to have to work for it more so than it come naturally.
