Back in 2015, I picked up a well used 1990 Honda CR250R to restore. At first, I was going to just do a restoration to stock but I decided it would be cool to make it into a Jeff Stanton replica. Originally, I posted these in five installments as I went along but here I have edited all of them together so you can watch them in one place.
Thanks so much to all the great people who helped me with this project including Works Connection, Race Tech, Michelin, Pivot Works, Evo MX, Vertex, BTO Sports, Guts Racing, Dubya Wheels and Loudon Motorsports in Leesburg, Va.

She's gorgeous!. I remember seeing this 90 CR for the first time in late 89 or early 90. I went to Fremont (CA) Honda to look at some bikes one day, but they were closed, so I looked in the window. It was a lil dark and it was kinda hard to see. I saw a white and red bike and I was a bit perplexed. My initial thought was the it might me an XR, and I thought "Wow, maybe Honda raised their XR game, that thing looks sick". I'm not sure when or how I finally learned it was indeed a CR, but I was initially disappointed in the white coloring, just coming off the 88/89 blood red beauties. I did learn to really like it tho. I even liked the 91's!. I dunno, they just looked good in person, my buddy had a 91 CR500 that I loved

I had the 1990 CR 500 (way too much bike for me) and this brings back fond memories. I agree that the 1990 CR's were good looking, not quite as nice as the 86 CR's, but nice clean looking machines. If you ever need an idea for a bike review, consider the Honda XR 600, it was probably the best all around dirt (not mx) bike ever made.

So lucky to have that bike. My best friends uncle who we used to ride with had bought one brand new in 90. Those were so fast.

I have watched all of the videos on this bike separately, so it is good to now see them all together in 1 single video. Beautiful bike. I hope that my Honda CR250 comes out half as nice looking as this. Well that is if I can ever get my 1998 Kawasaki KLX300 build completed 😞. Once again great job Tony. 👍

Another good one! That bike looks FANTASTIC! I have been meaning to restore my 1987 Merlin DG-3, a solitary remnant of my racing days; I wanted to compete in Trials to improve my overall riding skills. It’s the only motorcycle I never sold or got rid of. I bought it new in 87’ when I lived in Oregon. It’s the most obscure trials motorcycle In the world....I think there were only about 13 imported into North America. I took it down to the frame back in 2005 and just when I was in the early restoration phase, Hurricane Katrina’s devastated the shop it was in. When I went to retrieved the parts they were under three feet of water.... i still have everything, meaning to try and restore it one of these days...

Beautiful bike man! I love the 1990 look. One of the best. You could've had some material added to the seat cover to make it usable. It would've been hidden under the seat, so no issue for looks.

Great to see what you’ve done with that used looking base project bike. Looks amazing. I agree, I wouldn’t want to take it out after all that work. Looks so fresh n new I have a 91 CR250 that I’m about to have restored. It’s my original bike I used to race. So had some fond memories of what I used to do on it. I’m way too old now for that stuff now. 😉 Anyway the first upgrade will be the suspension, then an engine rebuild and port cleanup followed by new after market pipe and I was thinking about a Lectron Carb. What are your thoughts for these upgrades? I want race at in the VMX class so don’t mind investing some coin if it improves performance.

You are "about to have restored"??? Do it yourself. It's not rocket science. If you have the physical ability to race, than you have the ability to restore a bike. Good luck.
