This is a look back at the history of Fox Racing from its inception in 1974 as The Moto-X Fox through the year 2000. In it, I go through the ads and gear that have made Fox Racing a motocross icon over the last 40 years.
Let me know if you like this one and I will dow something similar for AXO Sport , JT Racing, Answer Racing and perhaps some other classic gear companies.

Thank you for making this video dude. I don't mean to get all soppy but watching this reminded me of so many memories with my mom and dad. They passed away over 10 years ago. I actually cried when I saw the pawtectors at 35:35 because it triggered a whole series of memories for me. Those were my first ever pair of racing gloves and while moto-x was always the dream at that age (8), my folks persuaded us to race bmx because it was cheaper and we did not have much money. Looking back now with a big lump in my throat knowing just how expensive those gloves were and just how hard they had to work to give me a pair. They made so many sacrifices for us. Kids, honor your mothers and fathers. They give up much to give you the joy of racing.

Best?? They used to be one of the best companies to make motorcycle suspensions for the professional dirt bike racers who had enough financial backing to afford 5-10k per bike. I still love Fox gear and especially their racing apparel and jerseys but there are so many great companies making very specific and niche aftermarket parts for dirt bikes it’d be really hard to find a single piece of gear or performance mods made by Fox that is truly the best money can buy. That’s sort of like saying that Oakley makes the best sunglasses in the world as they are both huge conglomerates that are publicly traded for the sole purpose of making the most profit for the smallest investment possible. Unfortunately because of this fact they don’t even make nearly the best suspensions anymore but they have done well enough in the past to relay on advertising and the new riders who think they have to be decked out in Fox gear and have as many Fox stickers and accessories slapped on their bikes to be cool and look like they can ride.

I was born in '61. When I was 8. My uncle came by on his BSA. Took us for a ride and I was hooked. We used to ride our bikes downtown and look thru the store front at the local bike shop for hours !! Then When I was about 12. I bought my first DIRTBIKE mag(with bottle money) !So stuff like this really sticks out to me ! Thank you sir !!!!!

Love these videos, as someone who grew up with an uncle who raced in the 70's and handed down his magazine collection to me each summer I worshiped the riders of that era. I finally got my chance to race in the 80's-90's so I love the riding gear from that era as well. @ 39:10 that's no practice track it's Hollister Hills G.P. track. I don't know if it is still around but I had a few opportunities to ride there in the 90's.

From the late 70’s through the 80’s I ran JT Racing, Sinisalo, AXO, Malcolm Smith, Answer and FOX; my favorite for sure was FOX. I gotta add: GREAT VIDEO. I’m of the same generation as you, although I walked away from MX completely in 1990, didn’t even so much as watch a race on TV until the 2000’s.... work, family, all that....plus I was dead tired of injuries. I regret it now though.... terrifically nostalgic, this video.

I remember spending hours looking at that mid-90’s Fox gear in the Dennis Kirk catalog with my brother. I can’t count the number of lists that we made of our dream gear whenever we couldn’t actually be out riding! Of course, we couldn’t afford it as the bikes we had were worth about the same as a set of Fox gear at the time!! That didn’t stop us at all!!! Cool video, thanks for the memories!!

I once visited Yoko factory in Forssa, FINLANDIA! To my surprise they were also manufacturing Fox, O'neal, Answer & RS Taichi pants😮 Bought Larry Ward's team Suzuki Taichi pantalones(stil with tags on. Too special to use:), one pair of Fox, O'neal prototypes and got some Answer mtb shorts for free😊😊😊

Clicking on the video out of interest, I didn't think I'd sit through it all at once but yet I did. Great info on a surprisingly interesting subject! I don't ride anymore (wish I did) but this video brings back a lot of memories, especially from the mid 90s era onwards. Gearwise, early 2000s was when I caught on to the baggy pant/freeriding movement, and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. Looking back on it now, I think that was a pretty weird fad as far as riding gear goes. What's interesting though, is the strong connection with Finland that Fox seemed to have in the 80s. I never knew that my home country's flag, was such a mark of quality on the US market back then.

I stuck in through this whole video, as i have not only a fox head tattoo on my right arm i ran fox in 98,99 before making the switch to troy lee designs in 2000 and ive been a TLD guy ever since. But 98 in my opinion was the pinnacle year of fox gear i had the a whole basket of each color way and design, all but M.Cs blue and yellow bc i was on a honda in tje 95,96,97,98 99 and 2000 before getting a suzie bike in 01. But i sure appreciate this viseo!
