Back in the late 70's and the mid 80's I was the National Technical Director for the GWRRA. I Was factory trained at American Honda. One thing I noticed that you didn't mention was the issue that the Goldwing's had with the Carb piston shaft sticking in the Carb Caps because the shaft was gummed up. At the time I had people coming from California to My shop in. Arizona to have their poor idle and extreme hesitation resolved. At the time, I was only charging $75.00 to fix the issue. Thanks for allowing me to ramble on. Keep up the great work!

I have a 1984 GL1200. Over the years I've rebuilt the carbs...TWICE. Remember, if the bike is going to sit idle for more than about a month - drain the carbs!

I knew about the transfer ports since I been tearing into carbs, I always bench synch them before I install them on bike then I synch with my carb stix. I heard an old boss I had say, "You gota play peek ah boo with those holes." Also, I had a gas smell on my old Interceptors, I ended up buying new custom aluminum fuel tubes and did the whole de-racking replacing with new Viton o-ring thing, bikes ride like a dream and odor free. I got so good doing the carb balance on the bike, I can do it in 5 minutes now, but it took years to get that savy. Nice video. Wings are cool. PEacE

Great video bro! It brought me much joy to see that you used my bike’s pic when you mentioned the LTD ❤ If you ever do a video on how to fix that IAC issue I’m experiencing on mine I’ll be more than happy 🙏 Thanks again BB

It blows my mind just how much some shops will try and charge for the carburetor work simply because they don't want to do it. I got quoted $1,200 to rebuild my carburetor at a pretty reputable shop in my area. Then I found a guy one town over that runs the shop out of his garage and enjoys working on older vintage bikes. I got the carburetor rebuilt Tank flushed Fork seals replaced Front brakes Brake master cylinder Radiator flush Thermostat And something else minor that I can't remember right now done for a little over $800. It's amazing how inexpensive things can get when you find the right person

Great video(if you understand his terms/lango) Very easy to follow. I'd like to obtain the literature he has on Carbs. The The ONLY issue I find with the information (as he admitted), the lesson DOES NOT include how to get to the Carbs, how to uninstall and reinstall a Carb. It's just instructions on how to MODIFY/UPDATE your Carbs As for dummies such as myself,🥴 I'd need to know HOW to get to it "Bolt by bolt". Apply all torque specs(if any) upon reinstallation..... We should be good after that. 👍🏾

You are not going to believe it but I had a 1993 goldwing that got where it wouldn’t run but about 60 mph wide open -I put a can of sea foam in it and ran it for a couple of weeks-one day I hit a pothole in the road and it broke free and ran perfect till I sold it !

Then only problem I had with my 122cc 86 was that I lived in Albuquerque, NM at the time and the air was thinner at 5000ft altitude. I wasn't a bad problem snd seemed to go away once the engine heated up. Going to Santa fe was even worse.

I've had my hands in a few GWs over the years, I even worked at Wing Enterprises Okc for around a year, right before Bart the owner died. I got so good with the carbs on these things I'd normally have them synced and tuned on the bench before I'd ever installed them. I'd install them and the only thing I'd have to adjust was the idle... at most. They always busted right off and the throttle was always snappy and responsive even under load.

Magic holes by the butterfly 😂 same with KZ 440 carb. JUST be gentle ,not to enlarge them while cleaning .Them and the other carb holes especialy when bottoming adjusting screws IN. Bigger they become the more sensitive they are when tunning. Thats why carbs in multi sets can have different adjustment settings to be on the same page, aka same proportion of fuel to air

87 aspencade here. Had carbs cleaned and synced 8,000 miles ago but it has run rich since. Only getting 31 mpg on hwy. What can i do without breaking it all down. I can piddle on my bike but not major stuff. any suggs i appreciate,, df

My single carb setup is far superior to the original carbs. Starts without choke, better mpg, more range, no syncing necessary, simple, parts always available, 10 pounds of weight off the top of the engine(great in curves), runs great on modern gasoline etc. I could go on and on. More details on my channel. My bike has never run this good period. Total cost under $300.

I avoid ALL 1200's because the lifecycle was short and the problem list long. I have 2 GL1100's and love em. 1 Interstate / 1 Aspencade. NON-Led display.

Hi, I just rebuilt my GL1100 carbs, do you know what your mixture screws are set to?
@anonimous2451 Жыл бұрын
@@blackmax52 The factory setting if I remember correctly is 2 turns out. I removed those silly little stoppers cause Honda wants to limit your ability to adjust the carbs. F* that. But be very careful cause you can wreck the screw it is set onto. KZbin has a video about how to remove them if your interested. Usually all said and done with a carb sync tool you should be between 2 and 3 turns out. The limiter keeps you from enriching too much but sometimes, ya may need to. No more than 3 turns cause the internal spring is too loose after that and may fall out. I used a drop of purple locktite over the top after they were bench synced and if you have to adjust em back out the locktite takes hold and helps.
