I'm sure prices will fall over the next year or so. This will be caused by owners who have bought new or nearly new in 2020 and 2021 selling up. Travel restrictions will be lifted this year and the return to work is well underway. Foreign travel will again be the norm for many people. Those new motor home owners will see their expensive vehicles sitting on the drive with less time to use them. Loans and payment plans will put the squeeze on too. The luxury on the drive will go. The vehicles will be sold back to the market in large numbers. A few new motorhome owners will be converted and keep them but most will be sold. There will be excess supply over demand and prices will fall.

I'm sure they will too... He keeps saying things like "it was 35k, would have been 25k last year, but due to demand it's 33k this year, - you haven't lost a lot of money" But it's only £35k this year because of the demand. in two years it'll be a £23k van and we'll be hearing people talk about the bottom dropping out of the market loosing £12k from the price of a a second hand vehicle in 24 months etc.

Fake environmentalism, and the 'carbon footprint' related bs will follow on from this pandemic. No one other than the rich will be flying abroad around 2030. This is a conspiracy, but not a theory - all the information is available to view yet the general public are hypnotized on local and national affairs. Also inflation will soar, so if you think prices will drop in the next few years you're in for serious disappointment. Parts for my small business are far more expensive already, this isn't 'going back to normal' guys, I promise you.

Peter C best of luck but i think you'll be disappointed. Before the scramble for campers they held their prices. I started in the 90s and nothing has changed. 10K will buy you a wreck, 20K a middle of the road average. If you want a decent van its anything from 25 to 60K plus. They always hold their price and the second hand market has always been high priced. Ive often been asked why so expensive new. Buy a new caravan, say 4 berth good make, around 25K. Buy a new car to tow it another 25K. Now build both into a camper, how can it be cheaper than 50K?

IF we went back to some sort of normality and people could get abroad without restrictions I wonder how many people who are new to motor/camper vans because of Covid will keep their vans or find that they are a liability due to the fact that they use them less want to return to foreign holidays. If dealers are inundated with vans with less buyers would there be a major price drop within the new and second hand market ?.

Price is just one of the reasons I switched from motor-caravans to touring caravans. The last motor-caravan I bought was a long while back, but it cost me £11000 for a 10 year-old van that had originally been around £15000. I was the one who took the hit in value when the rust appeared! I decided then that there is just too much value tied up in an 'old' motor vehicle that is destined for mechanical faults or MOT failure! I've been towing for 17 years now. No regrets yet.
@hybrid66923 жыл бұрын
I agree to a point but of course if you don't have a suitable towing vehicle as i don't then the outlay overall is greater

Now it is a totally unrealistic dream , because of demand everything is overpriced for what it is , i've given up on the dream .....

very informative video. However when you take inflation into account , the depreciation is actually bigger than the absolute number. eg if the van is 15 years old and cost say £30k new, then £30k 15 years ago was worth a lot more then. you need to apply inflation depreciation of the capital if you say average inflation is 2%over 15 years then the deprecation of the capital is 37% so the actual 'new price' ie what 35k is worth today. is 35x1.37=48k so the 'real' deprecation is say 48-22 =£26k if its worth £22k now

I've got a 2016 rollerteam had it 2 & half years and a dealer has offered me 3 grand more than I paid for it just for the van and that's not as a trade in! But it's like everything in demand if I was to upgrade the new was has gone up by 10 grand! I'll stay with what I've got!

I won`t sell my old one, or buy new, from any dealers, as the last year, to 18 months dealers are really ripping off the public, since lockdown. Going to a motorhome/camper show, in September, when i put a little sticker in my window, and get inundated, with offers, everytime.
@normanmunns47433 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that these second hand retail prices he is quoting are what a dealer would sell them for. They would offer you at least £6000 less than what is being quoted. If you tried to sell it yourself you would get about £4000 less then what he has quoted

I have a 2014 T5 High-line VW camper van with 26120 miles on the clock, how much would I get for it in 2021.

Ahh this is just sad. Dashed my dreams of owning one. I can't be paying prices like these. I thought there would be much cheaper options.

I buying around may 2022. Should be quite a few off loading them then. P.s even in todays market your prices are way higher than many i have seen on gumtree or suchlike
@TheMotorhomeMan3 жыл бұрын
We took our prices from well known sites.

Looking after your van, service, documentation etc helps to keep the value, however; this is not the reason for the higher prices Right Now. Without covid19 the 2006 - 2009 vans would be up to 3k less, regardless of how well they have been looked after. Am I correct in this assumption? Do enjoy your videos. Thank you,

I do not think so Mark

What about the fact that the same amount of money today as 10 years ago buys half as much, so you lost 100% in depreciation of your money....
@TheMotorhomeMan3 жыл бұрын
Not if you sell it for the same price you sold it for

What's the point in buying a second hand motorhome, For a bit more money, you might as well pay for a brand new one
@natkingcol9093 жыл бұрын
I'd hazard a guess that the lead time on a new one would be about a year, maybe longer...

Great video - confirmed what I thought about prices vs new. Was going to upgrade to a mhome 10 years old but may as well buy new. Nearly bought an new Itineo sb740 for £55k 18 months ago... still worth that if not more now.

If I could stand having my brother with me for a few days then the autotrail would do it for us both and my dog and cat. Even when we were younger and the both of us had motor bikes my brother was up dressed and away by 7am but I preferred a brew first, anyhoo as you Jason know the average bridge height is 11ft 6 and I'm paranoid about having to take bloody awful detours and maybe it's all in my mind but I'd imagine as beautiful as the family motorhomes are I'd be doing a lot of detours but like be said I'll even post a fiver of my brother's money to you if say nice things about Kevin for a whole video report
@jimg1963live3 жыл бұрын
Hi interesting video I presume that the prices your quoting are what you are selling these vans for and not the price you purchased them for. Is it not true as with cars that private sellers don’t get as much for a van as traders do at point of sale.
@TheMotorhomeMan3 жыл бұрын
They are the selling prices people are selling on the internet
